Have you written a book?

I don't think I know anyone who has written a book, so I would love to be the first.

Sometimes I read books and think "I could do that" so what is stopping me? Why don't I take the plunge and give it a go? Is it the fear of rejection? The worry that I could send it off to a load of publishers and hear nothing? Or even worse, hear back that they didn't think I was good enough>?

I went through quite a rough and traumatic time a while back, something that at the time I kind of thought "cor, I could write a book about this" so why shouldn't I?

But then I think it must be harder putting pen to paper over an actual event in your life. Actually publishing events that really happened in your life.

So maybe I will just stick to my posts here. And leave the book writing to the professionals.

I'm writing one currently, a biography. That entails a lot of work, research, interviews, etc. Even fiction, however, requires extensive research. I had to read Gary Paulsen's book "Hatchet" in young adult literature class in college, and our professor told us that Paulsen did nearly everything in that book (about a youngster who survives a plane crash and lives in the wilderness with just a hatchet as a tool) just to see if it could be done (long before Les Stroud started doing "Survivorman"!).

Give it a shot. You can always self-publish!

I have written a book about ten years ago. I still have not gotten it published. Writing the book was the easy part, having it published is the hard part.

Coffee I have thought about writing one. But there are many types of books to write. A novel, a biography even a compilation book of short stories or poems. Why not give it a go.

Anyone can write a book. The "professional" part comes only when you get paid for it; when it sells. I'm sure that people like James Patterson, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, etc, would tell you the same. Why not give it a whirl... You never know. Besides, today, one can self-publish through Amazon Kindle and the like and the rest could just...fall into place emoticon

I have written and self-published two books. I'm currently working on a novel and am shopping two short stories around. So if you want to write a book, you certainly can, but it is a lot of work. Writing it is the easy part. Then comes publishing it.

No, I have never written a book, but it has always been my dream to write at least one book that is published and is success with the masses.
