The Advantages of keeping a Pet

The main advantage of having a pet of any description is that it gives you something to love and care for. It teaches children responsibility. I always love to see children in the park with their dogs as the children get so much out of the fun a dog can bring. Having to feed or clean up after a pet of any description is a good for children.

Having a pet to care for is a great comfort for many people. The pet represents companionship and a reason to get up in the morning for many people old and young.

Horses are great for children with special needs, riding for the disabled is a wonderful organisation. It helps people connect with their feelings and helps express themselves even if it is only a smile. Animals bring out the best in most people giving them something to love.

I agree will all you say and add that it also introduces children to the concept of loss and death. Children may get attached to their pet hamster and be sad when it dies but they are unlikely to break their hearts over it. The death of a pet prepares children for the harsher realities of life.

Aww this is a nice article. I love pets as well and think the same you do. Plus they make you smile at the end of a bad day.

As many pets as have come and gone in my life, I still remember the dogs we had when I was in high school. I occasionally dream about them.

To me, a house isn't a home without an animal. There are inconveniences. No one likes picking up poop. You do have to feed them. You have to make arrangements for them when you travel. And losing them is very hard. But nothing can compare to the companionship and affection they give.
