Do You Have Faith Horoscopes Are True?

Do you know someone who just has to consult their horoscope every day? Do you believe in horoscopes, or do you think reading them is a load of superstitious foolishness? You might be surprised to learn that as someone who has studied astrology and who believes it can be very accurate at times, I avoid the horoscope columns like the plague! Although some of the astrologers who write these horoscopes are pretty talented, I just don't see the point.

Zodiac Signs Too Vague

My personal reason to avoid horoscopes in the paper or online is simply this: they're too generic. Even the most talented astrologer can't outline what will happen during a given period, for every person who has ever been born in a given month. There are far too many variables to consider, so the best you'll get is a very broad outline.

But does that mean astrology doesn't work? No. It simply means that astrology has to be more personal to give accurate data.

Sun Signs

Newspaper horoscopes are based on only one of dozens of data points that would be found on even the most basic of astrological charts. All they look at is your sun sign, or where the sun appeared in relation to the earth on the day you were born.

Your sun sign is the same as your zodiac sign, which is the thing you answer when asked, “What's your sign?” But you also have a moon sign and a rising sign, and the sign for Mercury, Mars, Venus, and several other planets. Each of these additional data points makes you more unique, and changes the way you will tend to act under a given set of circumstances.

No horoscope column can cover all that, so the best it can do is look at how people who share a sun sign might react to the week's upcoming situations. While that might be helpful to some, the chances that the prediction will be wrong – or just vague – are far greater. I prefer to use other means to answer questions and predict trends, if I feel the need for a little more information than is usually available to me.

How about you? Are you a believer in astrology? Do you read the horoscope column?

Though I've seen even generic posts be very accurate for others, astrology never worked for me ~ until I was finally told that, due to my peculiar chart, it should only be addressed by "Eastern Astrology". And when someone did that kind of reading, I finally recognized who they were talking about, lol!

I agree that those horoscopes found in newspapers and magazines are so general as to be virtually useless but maybe, just maybe, there is something in it. Although I am a sceptic I will admit that I still read my daily horoscope - purely as a fun thing to do!

I don't believe in horoscope.Sometimes, I read the horoscope column in broadsheet out of curiosity.

I too have studied astrology and agree that a simple sun-sign daily prediction is too general. Everyone has not only the sun, but the moon, and the other planets, and other bodies, in their natal horoscope charts so the science and art of astrology is very encompassing!

I think that it depends on whether you believe in what is written about your sun sign. If you believe in that and base your belief off of that then why shouldn't you believe the daily horoscope? I personally don't usually read my daily horoscope. But I have read my sun sign and I do believe in that. It is too close to be fake.

Yes, I believe in astrology... no to the horoscope column. I can't not believe in it because it's so spot on usually. I am an analytical purist Virgo who cringes at vulgarity and arrogance. I have a Leo moon and Aquarius rising... but the older I get the more like a Virgo I become. Even the people I know who don't know anything about astrology fit their horoscopes. It's really weird.

I think that astrology is just as valid as any other spiritual leanings. But no to the generic horoscope.

I am a Leo with a Capricorn rising/Taurus moon.
