I WILL Wear Pierced Earrings Again!

The first time my ears were pierced was when a group of us airwomen decided to pierce each others ears with regular needles. I can't remember any details, except that the holes grew shut, and it wasn't until my late 30s that I had my ears pierced again--this time by a professional. I managed to keep the holes open, often drawing blood as I tried to insert an earring. Nobody told me that I should always keep post earrings in them, and I wasn't smart enough to see the obvious. Work and extra curricular activities involved my dressing up, so I wore earrings most days. Then I semi retired. Consequently, I wasn't wearing my earrings almost daily, and the holes grew shut. Having collected quite a few earrings, I could not bear to not wear them again. Consequently, 1 1/2 years ago, I had my ears pierced professionally, but they bled a lot especially the one on the side on which I slept. I let them grow shut again. Last month I had them pierced again. The left ear is doing well, but the right post came out last week. So, today I had the right ear pierced again and another post inserted. I am really wondering it I will ever be able to wear some of my earrings again!

I wonder if maybe the problem is because you've got scar tissue from the earlier piercings healing over? It's harder to pierce through a scar, and I know of otherswho've had difficulty when they had an ear re-pierced in roughly the same spot.

Ruby3881 may be on to something. This sounds like a horror story. So many piercing one two little ears! When I worked in a pharmacy, I spent so much time on the phone that I stopped wearing earring and let the holes grow back. When I got married, I had my ears pierced again for the wedding so I could wear a particular pair of earrings. I'll be damned if they're going to grow back now.

When I was a teenager I told my parents I was going to get one ear pierced (it was the fashion for guys back then) - and they threatened to disown me if I did, so I didn't. 40 years later I still don't have my ears pierced and reading this story I don't think I ever will!
PS: Your image credit is insufficient. You need to read the FAQs (button at the top of every page) where you will find details of how to credit images properly on Persona Paper. You may also like to read this post by MaeLou - it details exactly what Persona Paper requires of image credits. Failure to credit images properly could result in you not being paid for your work - wouldn't want you to fall foul of a rule you didn't know about!

Oh my, I could not go through all that. I barely stayed to have the second ear pierced. I guess I should see if I can still get an ear ring in. If not, I am not getting them pierced again!

My goodness! Even though I do not wear them daily, mine did not grow shut. I have a second hole that becomes difficult, and I don't wear them often in that one, but can usually force it through.
