Heat wave kills more than 1000 in India

According to various news channels, extremely high temperatures have claimed more than 1000 lives in . The has been so intense that roads of capital New Delhi have melted.

My heartfelt commiserations with those who have lost their lives. It is extremely tragic that it is usually the and the homeless who suffer most from the hands of natural calamities and extreme weather conditions. Floods, drought, earthquakes and heat waves seem to target the poorest of the poorest most.

In addition to and heat stroke, high temperature and frequent power cuts also lead to spoilage of food stuff and many people fall sick due to food poisoning.

I think the government should announce very early hours for schools and offices so that people do not go out when the temperature is at its peak.

It is very sad. As you say, it is often the young and the elderly who suffer most.

It's also scorching hot in Philippines. Yesterday the temperature reached it's peak at 40 degree celsius . I have to take a bath 3-4 times a day because I am pregnant. Good thing it rained today.

That's horrible. The idea of early hours may help some, but there's also got to be some way of getting water and relief to the most vulnerable of people.

Mommyjen Please take good care of yourself. Drink plenty of fluids, be careful of your diet and do not go out without head protection. My best wishes for you and your baby.

this is so sad. Sorry I can't press like, too unfair. Yes, the government should take steps to prevent heat for the citizens

I cannot imagine temperatures as high as that. Nature plays funny tricks sometimes.

I am very sorry to hear about the deaths in India due to the heat wave. It is especially important for the very young and old to be cared for during heat waves.
