I’m Going To See Poltergeist Tomorrow

I may or may not have mentioned before that I am a fan of the original Poltergeist trilogy. Actually, the original Poltergeist is my all-time favorite movie. I have been super excited to see the reboot in the theaters, and tomorrow I’ll finally get my chance! :)
The movie does not come out until Friday, May 22nd, but my friend won passes to the screening tomorrow (well, May 21st) evening. He gave me a pass for two people, in which my older sister will be accompanying me. Pretty cool of him to do that! :)

I wasn’t born when the original Poltergeist came out; and I was a baby/toddler for the second and third. So this is the closest I will get to seeing it on the big screen (unless the original is re-released). Yes, I have seen the theaters, and no, I wasn’t brushing it off just because it’s a reboot.

So my plan for tomorrow is to get as much work done as possible, because we need to leave in the late-afternoon (it starts at 6pm, but it’s on a first-come, first-serve basis). Whatever I don’t finish, I’ll get to it when I get home. It’s not like I’ll be out super late or anything. We are not on babysitting duty for the next two days (we only have the little guy until further notice anyways), so there’s no reason to not get my work done this week.

Anywho, I’m out. Finishing up these last few assignments, which shouldn’t take long, and hitting the hay. You all enjoy your night/day, and take care! :)

I had no idea that they made a reboot of the movie! How cool!

I remember the original movie and real scary it was too! I am also looking forward to the new version.
PS: the logo on your shirt is copyright of WWE or the artist who produced it and the situation with the poster will be the same (copyright of the studio or the artist). You said it yourself - they don't belong to you.

ViperGirl85 I remember the original movie very well. And I loved it when it came out. I still the the first one was the best one. But I hope they do justice to this re-make. Some movies they re-make they ruin. And I also heard they are going to re-do the movie The Idolmaker. Tell us how it was.

Yep! I liked it! Do a YouTube search for the Poltergeist Reboot (or Poltergeist 2015) trailer. :)

Have you been able to see it yet?
Is my pic okay? I don't want to accidentally break any rules. :-/

I wasn't born when the original Poltergeist was released, but it's been my fav. movie since I was about 9ish. I'll always prefer the original, but I did like this version. It has similarities and differences to the first one, and they did modernize it well in regards to the spirits coming through the technology (and not just the TV, but mainly the TV).

ViperGirl85 I would figure they graphics would be better. We do have much better technology now. But they did a great job in the original. Even with Back to the Future and Terminator. They were ahead of their time when they came out. And I heard they are supposed to remake Back to the Future.

ViperGirl85 - I still haven't found time to see it but it is definitely on my 'to watch' list.
As for your pic I will direct you to this post: http://www.personapaper.com/article/14348-copyright-on-the-web---can-i-use-that-photo All of it is worth reading but you should pay particular attention to paragraphs 3, 4 and 5

I'm glad to hear it! Oh, and I already did the other day after I had read your post about it. :)

Hmmm. If I'm reading it correctly, I'm guessing I shouldn't post certain selfies, especially in my WWE merch, anymore. :-/

ViperGirl85 - That is correct. I don't regard this particular type of infringement as a major deal - I view it more as a matter of how honest/honourable we are in not profiting from someone else's work but technically it is a breach of copyright and we all need to be careful just in case someone takes umbrage and decides to complain. There is also the position of Persona Paper to consider. Does this site wish to gain a reputation as a place where members can break the rules and no-one cares or is it an honest and reputable site which sticks to the rules? And don't forget that Persona Paper's FAQs clearly state that if a member uses an image they have no right to use they run the risk of losing coins and/or having their account deleted - especially for multiple infringements.

Right. Should I go through my posts and delete any pics like this? I can't do it all at once because my browser will start acting haywire, but maybe just some at a time until they're all gone.

Edit: Yeah, I'm looking thru my posts, and there aren't as many as I thought, so I'll just delete and replace the pics I shouldn't have used, and deleting the "Pic of The Day" posts (I only had two). I'll try to jump on the desktop this week (since it's faster than my laptop) and just get it done, and won't post them anymore.

ViperGirl85 - I applaud your attitude (many people would simply carry on regardless). In truth the chances of you being the recipient of a 'cease and desist' notice from the respective copyright holders is remote (but not impossible). No doubt in your travels around the web you will have seen many examples of copyright theft and the improper use of images (as well as plagiarism). Such things are rife online and it is impossible to stamp it out completely. What we can do is point out infringements when we see them (to the author first - I have done so many times on this site) and encourage everyone to stick to the rules (I have written several posts on here dealing with copyright and proper image use) and by sticking to the rules ourselves we can sleep easy knowing that we are a step above those who steal without thought or regard for the rights of others.

Thanks! I don't want to lose my account or get into any trouble over it. I'll just keep those pics off of here and save them for my private Facebook lol.

The WWE -DOES- have a thing where they welcome you to upload pics in their merch, but I cannot for the life of me get mine to post. emoticon :straight-face:
I'll start making a list this week of the posts that need the images removed. I only started using my own pics (outside of my graphics) a few months ago, so it's not many.

The photos have been taken care of.
