No Longer Will I Cry

Though I have never been a true fan of poetry, I find myself drawn to writing acrostic poetry, the most comment and simplest form is when the first letters of each line spell out a word or phrase. I find that, instead of limiting me, it allows me to be purposeful with my thoughts and language.

No Longer Will I Cry

Never did I believe
One could be so cold, or I might feel such pain.
Love, or that which some speak of love
Out of a sense of obligation,
No longer surprises me, but
Goes beyond every
Expectation that I thought
Reality may actually hold.

Why should any of us accept
Insensitivity or insolence,
Leaving us to feel flat or lifeless?
Love is an action, not simply a word to
Indiscriminately throw around.
Children, friends, family or lovers
Rarely intend to purposefully offend.
Yet, good intentions do not excuse disrespect or disregard.

CoralLevang Now this is very good. I am actually no major fan of poetry, but I do write it. Maybe you don't have to be really into it to write it.

Thank you, inertia4 . I rather like the acrostics, and it seems that some of my best poetry has come from this form. Rarely do I share it.

Wow, that was really good, I have to say I never tried to write poetry like that. The few that I have wrote are just random thoughts put on paper, not really sure it would be considered poetry or not.

Thank you. I know that when emotions are running through my head, that the acrostic allows me the opportunity to not get too out-of-whack because it focuses me. If I let it become too random, it's not good for my psyche.

I can understand that but it helps me get things out of my head and move on with my day. Sometimes to much going on up there can drag me down.

CoralLevang You have a way with words, you should share more of it.

I don't care for poetry much. I find it is a very interesting way to communicate and it is also very romantic. Yours is very interesting

Thank you very much, celticeagle . I think that it was the sing-song iambic pentameter style that I did not care much for, though I have written a couple of those lately.
