The Mystery of the Perfect Condiments

For several years we've been adjusting, changing, modifying our . "We" equal my significant other and me. Had you asked me 40 years ago about “veggie burgers”, I probably would have tried to pretend not to hear the question or act like you're weren't talking to me. It is 2015 and here's my reality check. Veggie are a real part of our plan. Learned something about myself. Veggie burgers taste pretty good to me! Not all of them. But there is one particular brand that is inexpensive and tasty: Morningstar Farms® Garden Veggie Patties™ . They have a variety of : , , , , etc. You eat them just like a regular hamburger.

Made an amazing discovery today. It sort of makes me feel silly because of its obviousness. The garden veggie pattie is the one that tastes the best. ( .) You don't have to dress it up. But the other ones – the mushroom, the Asian-style, the spicy bean, the chik'n or turkey grillers, etc. - are not so tempting. The other day, my kids did the and brought home two other flavors. For days, they have patiently listened to my complaints. Today, my daughter fixed a spicy bean bean burger for lunch but didn't finish the sandwich. She asked me if I wanted her ; otherwise, she'd have to throw it away. Waste food?!! Not in my house!! So I ate what was left of her and … and … It tasted great!

Do you know why? She put and on her burger. Duh! These common under-appreciated that are in and gave the veggie burger what it was missing. Flavor! Why didn't I think of that??!

we don't eat much mustard, more of mayo and no tomato ketchup, just chillie sauce, I guess the Malaysians are spice lovers

I do not eat that much burgers and the likes. I am more prefer of rice and fried chicken when I ate at fast food chain.

I dont like too much on my burgers of any kind. So it has to have good flavor itself

I love chili sauce. But don't often put it on a burger.

Since we're trying to change our diet, we don't do fast food so much any more.

If I had to make veggie burgers regularly from scratch, I probably wouldn't eat them, for the simple reason it's easier to shape ground beef into a pattie and cook it. But my spouse's health condition is causing me to make changes. It's not likely I would have started eating them otherwise.

I love a good burger; with sauteed onions, peppers and mushrooms, melted cheese and bacon!!! :)

Agree. I'm OK with sliced portabella mushrooms on a burger or a portabella mushroom as a burger. YUM!

Mustard is the new go to condiment in this house. My husband has been going on for months about the ham and mustard sandwiches he buys from the store at work. Last week we bought some crumbed ham for use on a pizza. We also had some in rolls and I suggested we try mustard with it, as it is thick, tasty ham. Well, who'da'thunk it? Now he's hooked...

I've actually always used mustard in a lot of my recipes. That's why I feel even more silly about not thinking to put it on the veggie burger. It was enough for my husband to convince me to eat a veggie burger. I think I had my mind set that if it didn't taste good right from the start I would refuse it and complain. At least my kids aren't listening to me complain any more. :)
