28 April, Great Poetry Reading Day

I've always believed that everything seems to have a special day allotted for it and today is no exception. Are you aware that 28 April is Great Poetry Reading Day? Now, I'm not sure if this means it's a day for reading great poetry, or a great day for reading poetry, but does it really matter? The point should be that this is a day dedicated to the reading of poetry.

Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to poetry. Some prefer that of the rhyming kind, while others like more free flow verse. There are even those who don't like poetry at all. I'm one of the lucky ones and enjoy reading all kinds of poetry. When it comes to writing it, however, I much prefer to write free verse.

So come all of you out there, this is a challenge, both a reading and writing one. Find a poem you enjoy, read it, then write a post about it. I'll come back to add my contribution later.

CalmGemini I have yet to respond myself as I feel a bit disheartened in the lack of interest in this post. I'm feeling a bit down about this place at the moment.

Thanks for the nudge, CalmGemini . Where are my manners? Yes, valmnz , I did post about reading poetry, blathering on quite a bit, actually. I tagged you and your challenge. Thanks for the idea.

I have a bit of poetry that I have not shared here. I did not realize there was a "day" associated with it. That day was also my first wedding day many years ago. I usually try not to remember it. emoticon :winking:
