The Associations 2014 Conference Finals - TBT Post

With most of the first round play-off game 1s over and done with i just want to throw a on the 2014 NBA Conference Championships.

So if you were living under a rock or have no interest whatsoever in sports or the NBA, the Miami Heat played the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

I had the Heat winning the series as I didn't see the Pacers as a championship caliber team back then. The Pacers were such a good defensive team during the regular season that year and people were riding the Indy train early on but common, the Pacers limped into the playoffs and then limped into the conference finals.

Heat with the big three of James, Wade, and Bosh, was as dominating as ever. They swept the Bobcats and then took care of the Nets in the second round. I didn't see the Pacers turning it a notch or two to even match the level of basketball that the Heat were playing.

For the East Finals, I had Heat winning 4 - 1 but they won the series 4 - 2

Out West, was more interesting. San Antonio Spurs played like champions all throughout the playoffs and they met the young OKC Thunder led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

It was a shame that Serge Ibaka was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Ibaka was OKC's anchor on defense and one has to think how the series could have been different had he played. Tony Parker was also nursing a hamstring injury but at that time, it was all a ruse.

Anyway, the match-up boiled down to experience vs youth and with Coach Pop on the bench, I gave the advantage to the Spurs.

For the West Finals, I had San Antonio winning, 4 - 2 which was what had happened

Loyalty eventually won over royalty and the Spurs were crowned champs trouncing the Heat in the series, 4-1.

Fast forward to today, who you got? who you picking?

Feel free to chime in here. Would love to see some NBA discussion going on here.

As a Spurs fan, I still have hope that they will come out back-to-back winners of the Larry O'Brien trophy. I am currently waiting for the game one against the Clippers right now.

The sexy choice is Golden State vs Cleveland. Can Cleveland and LeBron get by the Spur clone Hawks? Barring injury, the Spurs are to be feared. Home or road doesn't matter to Pop and the gang. Unless there is an upset (I hope for a Clipper upset!), Warriors vs Spurs and I say the old dogs school the hot shots. Lebron outmuscles Atlanta and we get a San Antonio vs LeBron's Team a third consecutive year. And the Spurs slice and dice the Cavs who aren't as good as the Heat. But there are many miles of playoff action to go.

That is square pick as any Soonerdad3 . Curry, Klay, and the rest of the Warriors better be making all those 3s if they want to win it all!

It was not meant to be. Everyone in the Spurs team not named Kawhi Leonard played badly. Perhaps they bounce back in Game 2 motrojam .

Like they say, it isn't a series until one team wins in another team's homecourt. So far, it is only the Wizards who have been able to do that. Not saying they win it all but I do like their chances. Out West, I like the Spurs and the Rockets.

I'm not interested in seeing loyalty vs royalty part three. We've seen that story line before and I think we see the same ending - Spurs make Lebron cry again.

I have no doubt they will, but it is a long run through the playoffs, anything can happen in the West Conference

I "live" to see LeBron cry! My beef concerning Lebron is the media insisting he's the greatest ever and when he farts on court it's spectacular. I have seen too many chokes and miscues from this guy to think he stands with MJ or even Kobe.
