Why I Like to Watch Horror Movies

I’m not a brave person. I get scared very easily. I’m scared of dark rooms and I have a very active imagination. If I hear noises at night, I will think that there’s something ghostly going on and for that reason, I can’t understand why I like to watch horror movies.

I know I will get really scared and I will not be able to go to the toilet alone after watching a horror movie but every time there’s a new horror movie, I will without fail be watching the movie. Why? I don’t know.

Maybe I’m just curious. Sometimes when I watch the trailer, I get curious about the movie. However, I will not watch so-called horror movies that contain a lot of blood and gore and torture scenes like the movies Saw, Hostel and the like.

I will only watch movies that scare me psychologically; movies like The Conjuring, Insidious, Sinister, Case 39, Orphan and so on. No gore for me. Gore doesn’t scare me. Such movies only make me feel disgusted and squeamish.

Do you like watching horror movies?

No. I can't stand them because they freak me out so I try to avoid them. I'm not sure why you watch them if they scare you BUT maybe you enjoy the adrenaline rush. I especially hate horror films about demonic possession/ ghosts. I always feel really uneasy afterwards.

It is strange that I love watching horror movies even though I get scared easily but I don't watch these movies at night or alone. I always watch them with my daughters. And I especially like horror films with demonic possessions and ghosts. They're the best kind.

Sometimes, the more scared you are, the more you want to stay and watch the entire thing.

Just like you, I enjoy watching psychological horror movies above all, but I don't freak out when I see some gore movies either; what really scares me is the thought that there are wars taking place not far away from my country. In those areas reality's much more frightening than any horror movie.

I like horror movies especially the vintage black and white Hollywood classics. I love vampires and zombies. I don't care for Paranormal Activity kind of movies.

I do not like to watch horror movies. I do not like to be scared or give myself unwanted nightmares.

I prefer not to but my husband likes watching them. I especially do not like movies in which children are possessed.

I like horror movies, but like you, I don't like the disturbing/gore movies. I'll stick to Halloween, Poltergeist and Nightmare On Elm Street, and everyone else can have Saw and Hostel.

LOL, I am the same. You see the thing is, horror movies are just crazy interesting! However, I have learned my lesson now, I do not watch anymore. However, what you could do is watch before 12 in the morning so that you forget by the end of the night.

I like horror movies that are atmospheric and psychological. I don't like bloodfests. I think they're just juvenile.

When I was a boy, I loved seeing the old horror films with Boris Karloff as Frankenstein and Bela Lugosi as Dracula. As I got older, I lost my interest in horror movies.
