Journal 04-12-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day it is for you. Today is Sunday April 12, 2015. The temperature is 60°F and the humidity is 74% at 8:34 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0.7 with gusts of 3.1 mph. The sky is clear and the sun bright and warm. Didn’t think getting home at the incredibly late hour of 11:00 p.m. would make me sleep in so late, but I did. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 79 today.

The Arlo Guthrie concert was nice and nostalgic last night. We got his usual patter and stories, which are entertaining. An addition was a screen above the stage. The show opened with an animated clip of the “Motorcycle Song.” It was also used to show clips of the movie “Alice’s Restaurant” during the song, and during a tribute to his late wife. Hard to believe it’s 50 years now.

Today is a blank slate, I think. Maybe I’ll finally use those new mop heads and mop the kitchen floor, the entry way and the bathrooms. It’s been a while since I’ve done that.

Don’t know why I’m so tired. Slept in this morning.

The neighbor stopped by with a wedding present, which was nice of them. A bottle of champagne and two fanny pack, on saying “Mr.” and the other saying “Mrs.” That was nice of them.

I remember being annoyed at the introduction to Poems or Heaven and Hell (for reasons other than it took up half the book—no poetic license), and now as I re-read it, I recall why. So much of it is absolutely fatuous. But there are also tidbits of interesting information, like what tablets the stories were stitched together from.

With regard to walking, I walked 1.9 miles yesterday, bringing my total to 13.75 miles, which leaves me with a mere 86.25 miles to go in the Challenge, with idea of walking .

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy.

So. Writing schedule. Do all the stuff I’ve been wanting to do for a couple of days now, particularly the Examiner review:

1. Review Poems of Heaven and Hell from Ancient Mesopotamia for Examiner.

2. Continue Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil .

3. Review “Build a Platform as an Internet Radio Show.”

maxeen That's fantastic! I used to walk a lot more. This challenge is part of getting myself in the habit of walking again. When I was a kid, I walked home from school when I could, rode my bike, etc. I jogged for while when I was in college, but mostly just like walking. When I worked retail, my hours were all screwy, my sleep was all messed up. I went to the gym on and off, but for the past couple of years, I've been doing not much of anything. I'll go to the gym for a bit then stop. I'd really like to start walking a lot again.

I have two parks not too far away and each is around 31/2 miles so it is easy to get into a routine with the dogs, then I can have a few extra red wines as the evening becomes night..(not every evening ,of course. If only).

I'm still working part time, but the hours are variable and sporadic. Walking to the parking in the morning before it gets too hot would be suicide as I'd have to dodge just a whole bunch of scholars on their way to high school. And walking later in the day usually mean a lot of heat. So I have to find a balance. That's all.
