Irish Skin that Glows in the Dark

Another wee post for St Patrick's Day...

This is a picture of me that a friend took a couple of years ago as we sat and had lunch. As you can see, my pale Irish complexion makes it quite unnecessary to use a flash. My face is so light-reflective, they could probably use it as the Bat Signal should batteries fail. It's nice to know that I could help keep Gotham City safe, if need be. And if a burglar broke into my house at night and made the mistake of shining a flashlight at me, he would simply blind himself, so that's handy.

Believe it or not, I can actually get a tan in the summer, as long as I do it very slowly and carefully (according to Catherine Zeta Jones, whom I honestly thought was Spanish when I first saw her in the Zorro movie, Welsh people can catch tan, so I am thanking the Welsh on my mom's side), and then I look way more interesting--downright exotic, actually. I used to work with a lady named Catherine who was from England, and once when I returned from a trip to the beach sporting some color, she praised my golden glow and said she was never able to tan, "Because I'm European," she explained.

That made me laugh--I wonder what she thought I was?

Or, if you happen to be on Cape Fear at night, during a full moon, you can be a backup lighthouse.

Just sayin'.

Welsh people don't tan but only if they are in Wales....on the cote d'azure it's a different matter...

That Irish skin suits you, which is just as well i suppose, as you can't change it!

My action here would be incomplete if I did not post this video link here -" When Irish eyes are smiling" I used to sing this song to put my little nephew to sleep in those good old days. It sounds like a lullaby but a beautiful song.

Now coming to your shiny skin, I shall borrow you when I come to Ireland if ever I forget my torch (lol)

A lovely picture of you! As far as tanning goes - it depends on what part of Europe one is from (to a certain extent). Most of us are such a mixture! I tanned easily when I was young, but no more, it brings out the wrinkles :)

Preventing shipwrecks seems like a noble endeavor. Cape Fear's about four hours away from me, so I could commute.

Aww, thank you! My dad's eyes were very blue.

AliCanary wrote on March 18, 2015, 6:59 PM

True, I guess the weather in Wales probably isn't conducive to tanning.

Too many girls here try to be blonde and tan, so I figured I should probably just embrace my nature, making me somewhat unique!

There you go, then.

AliCanary wrote on March 18, 2015, 7:10 PM

It is a beautiful song, and it does have a very lullaby-like quality. Well, I live in the US, but maybe we can go exploring caves if you want!

AliCanary wrote on March 18, 2015, 7:17 PM

Ha ha, thanks! I'm a shiny little bird emoticon

bestwriter wrote on March 18, 2015, 7:18 PM

Oh! I must remember that. I have been to caves in New Zealand but did not know US also have those.

I love water, and I would hang out at the pool all day if I could. When I was a kid, my dad used to exclaim, "You're as brown as a nut!"
