New Rules and Implementation

If you haven't yet heard, we have some new rules taking place due to a lack in revenue from certain countries. You can read more about those changes in the announcements section on the front page. We have excluded new membership from the Phillipines and India for the time being. These two countries have us hitting a great amount of impressions on our site, however, the ad networks are not actually paying us for their views. Please note that this does NOT affect current members and only affects views from non-members. We are also not paying for outside views outside of the 3 countries that are currently earning us revenue. We ARE accepting members from countries that have not been excluded. When we see a rise in membership or views from other countries, they will be added to the whitelist and outside views will begin to be counted for that particular country.

As of right now, we have already implemented the above mentioned changes, however, we do have new rules that we will be putting into place.

Paypal Fees

Paypal will not allow us to send certain countries money via the "friends and family" option. Therefore, some countries may incur Paypal fees. We are unaware of what the fee might be, and it doesn't give us the option to pay for such fees (or we would), so unfortunately, we will not be able to tell you what these fees might be ahead of time, or if they will indeed exist. When given the option to pay for the Paypal fees, we WILL do that, however, when we are not told what the fees might be, or if they will even incur a fee, there's nothing we can do about it. Please be aware that from this point forward your email address MUST be verified/confirmed in order to receive payment. If it is not a verified email address, we will notify you that payment will not continued to be processed until this is taken care of. This will keep any "unclaimed" amounts happening in our own Paypal account.

Inactive Users and Users with 0 posts

As stated before, inactive users will start to have coins taken away after a certain time frame. This has NOT be implemented yet, and an email will go out to all members prior to this happening.

We will also soon be implementing a new policy when it comes to Users with 0 posts. Members that have 0 posts (not including their mandatory introduction) after 90 days will have their accounts deleted. This is not just for new members who sign up and do not bother to post anything, but for old members as well. If you delete all of your articles and have 0 posts for 90 days or more, your account will be subject to deletion. This will give us a more accurate view of our current active membership. Of course, any member who has their account deleted for such inactivity is welcome to reapply. Keep in mind, however, that if your country has been excluded, you will not be able to reapply for membership.

User Issues

Any suspended user who has an outstanding user issue for more than 14 days and have not properly fixed their user issue will have that particular article deleted. If it is a consistent user issue, your account may be subject to deletion. This is no different than breaking a rule. If you are confused as to why you have a use issue, please refer back to the Rules, AUP, FAQ and How It Works sections of the site.

Users who are flagged for Incoherent English will be subject to account deletion to keep the quality of our site at a peak level. Please keep in mind that if your account is flagged for Incoherent English, that your account may stay suspended until we manually delete your account. Eventually, this will not be done manually, and will be done automatically when your account or post is flagged for Incoherent English.

When Will All of This Be Implemented?

As of right now, we are looking to implement the above rules by the end of April. We have had a lot of personal things come up lately (increase in work load, 2 broken vehicles, illnesses, etc) that have pushed us behind on the programming aspect.

As a side note, a few have wondered when the new Persona Blogger will be implemented. We're still working on that as well, as we're building the design and programming it all from the ground up. We really do hope that this will be implemented by summer, and we are looking forward to it being completed.

Thank you very much for the updates. Although it will be a long time before I reach $20, I'm curious to see whether Paypal will hit me with any fees since I am in Thailand.

Thank you for the heads up! I hope elitecodex will get better very very soon. Have a great day still. Weather and too much work is not really a good combination. Stay healthy always. God bless.

Being an Indian, i was worried of getting removed from this site, but itseems old members from whichever countries will not be removed even if their country is in blacklist.

Thank you, as always, for the heads up. And on a personal note, hope everyone is well again. And I know what a drag it is to have vehicles that don't cooperate. My best wishes.

Your upcoming changes seem fair and reasonable to me considering the current state of affairs.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on March 16, 2015, 2:56 PM

Am I correct in assuming that views from non-members in the blacklisted countries will not be shown on the view counter?

WordChazer wrote on March 16, 2015, 3:25 PM

Always good to be kept in the loop. Many thanks MaeLou and may the lurgies leave you well alone now and your vehicles behave themselves.

MaeLou wrote on March 16, 2015, 3:49 PM

Any country that is not on the whitelist will not count towards views if they are not a member until we can determine if their country pays.

PriscillaKing wrote on March 16, 2015, 4:32 PM

I hope new rules don't harm the site. Bubblews got a lot of garbage, but also a lot of excellent, I'm-99%-sure-it-was-original, short personal essays that could be used to hang ads on, from India and the Philippines. (Too many people per square mile in both countries, perhaps. Lots of scammers, but lots of nice people too.)

ScarletRose wrote on March 16, 2015, 5:07 PM

I agree, things have not been the same at the B site since people from the Philippines in particular left. The ones who stay are less participative than they were and it was an interesting diversity of posts which is now missing

ScarletRose wrote on March 16, 2015, 5:13 PM

Would it be possible to keep people from the banned countries but limit their views to what is "normal" I think that people from these countries add a lot to sites like these, they are more interactive and it is great to see diversity in posts instead of the same old. Granted there are issues but placing limits may be better than an outright ban. Also what are the whitelist countries? not sure what that term refers to either.

MaeLou wrote on March 16, 2015, 5:31 PM

Bubblews did things way differently than we are. There was no warning or explanation. The problem isn't within the content.

MaeLou wrote on March 16, 2015, 5:34 PM

We have no intention of deleting members from certain countries that are current members, we are just not allowing new membership in from those countries because we cannot afford to pay them because they are not earning us any revenue. All members that are currently here will have nothing changed.

Currently, the countries on the whitelist are the UK, Canada and the US. These 3 countries are the only ones that we have traffic coming in that are paying us.

seren3 wrote on March 17, 2015, 12:58 PM

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Appreciate all the updates!

PriscillaKing wrote on March 19, 2015, 2:23 PM

Good that this information's available. Unfortunate that only rich countries are staying on the whitelist.

LadyDuck wrote on March 21, 2015, 10:13 AM

Thanks for the update, I am sorry you are having some personal problems,I wish you all the best.

MaeLou wrote on March 21, 2015, 10:51 AM

Well, rich is definitely a subjective term, but we are better off than 3rd world countries.
