My view on Updates and their impact

The updates by elitecodex seemed to have stunned a few people and made some uneasy about the future of this site.

I must confess I do not know how Google numbers, analytics , revenue etc. work exactly but I do get the gist. I don't think many people request payment here. In the past few months that i have been here, I know of only two people who have requested payment so I hope the admins are able to sustain the site and it does not face any serious financial troubles.

For me the most important thing is a statement by Maelou in which she states:

Current members would not be affected at all. Everything that you are doing now and how you are earning now, will not change.

I share my posts on and but I never found they brought in much views or income so basically I am not finding a lot of difference.

The only thing that seem to be missing are two very precious members of this site valmnz and bestwriter . I sincerely hope that recent changes have not made them hesitant to continue on Persona Paper.

I enjoy writing here and I know this is a precious platform for meeting with people from across the world. I sincerely hope that things improve and countries are no longer blacklisted.

My question from elitecodex and Maelou is that will writing longer articles help the site in any way? Maybe 300 words or more will make our posts more SEO friendly?

300 Words are great to write but 300 is just like 500 characters or more. So, it seems no difference. My sharing activity is not useful anymore because is already blacklisted from new members and non members view. I have interact more here to earn.

Dawnwriter wrote on March 13, 2015, 3:21 AM

Sharing never proved useful for me anyways. A major portion of my coins came from posting comments so I am not seeing much change.

AliCanary wrote on March 13, 2015, 3:49 AM

300 words is more like 1500 characters. Many sites require 400 - 600 words for articles.

I can't imagine why valmnz and bestwriter would leave here; Bubblews does not pay any better, and Grace has said she doesn't do it for the money, anyway. If other countries don't provide any revenue, it's not PP's fault, and it's no use holding it against them. I think they have been very fair not to penalize people who are already members, even if new membership will be more limited.

luisga814 wrote on March 13, 2015, 4:58 AM

they are the active users here in this site. Anyway to the remaining active users do not lose hope.

I have not read the new changes yet, but it sounds like people are nervous about the site. I am not earning much here, but I have not been here for a few days. I am beginning to track what I am earning on a daily basis here and I will see how I do.

crowntower wrote on March 13, 2015, 7:10 AM

You are right? I don't see valmnz and bestwriter today, or maybe they just make a day off to rest or write from the other sites. I hope everyone is still fine. I guess nothing can affect us from those views, just hoping the sites will not shutdown.

scheng1 wrote on March 13, 2015, 10:18 AM

Since current members will not be affected by the change, I am sure they will remain as active as ever.

MaeLou wrote on March 13, 2015, 11:43 AM

With the new policy for valmnz, I hope that she doesn't leave. We're allowing her country to come in and have only blacklisted the two countries who are giving us a lot of impressions, but earning us absolutely nothing.

As far as bestwriter goes... I don't know. I know she doesn't do the entire social media thing, so she shouldn't be affected since most of her views are in house anyway.

MaeLou wrote on March 13, 2015, 11:44 AM

Keep in mind with the changes, some people have stopped writing or interacting. That alone will make earnings a lot less than they were a week ago.

MaeLou wrote on March 13, 2015, 11:44 AM

We have no intention of shutting down at all. The ad revenue is coming in, just not from those 2 countries, which is why we need to blacklist them. We will not know about other countries until we start getting more impressions from them.

MaeLou wrote on March 13, 2015, 11:46 AM

More informative articles are ALWAYS the better option, but certainly NOT expected. I don't think Google or other search engines require a certain length, just unique content that matters, so if you want to do SEO informative articles, you should go for it. However, we are a social networking site too, so the blogging aspect is just as important. We're really hoping that we can get Persona Blogger up and running so that we can have both informative and blogging done separately.

trufflehunter wrote on March 13, 2015, 12:50 PM

I am curious which two countries those are. Hopefully mine isn't one of them :(

trufflehunter wrote on March 13, 2015, 12:50 PM

It is comforting to know that current members won't be affected. Guess I'll continue being active!

FreyaYuki wrote on March 13, 2015, 1:04 PM

Yeah, I've only heard of two people who have reached the payout here recently. I also see that valmnz and bestwriter aren't around at the moment. I hope they are well and will be back soon. Some say long articles can be good but there are also some that say that short articles work just as well. I think what matters most is the content. If the article is interesting, it doesn't matter if it's long or short because people will want to read it. It depends on the topic too like some topics require long and detailed explanations (like if you're writing a tutorial) while some might only require a short description.

I think the changes will help the site to improve in the long run. I dont share my posts too often so that part does not affect me any.

nbaquero wrote on March 13, 2015, 2:06 PM

dawnwriter I don't think the changes affect either of them heavily since they get their views from the Persona Paper community and they are very active at commenting, so that should not change, and really hope they come back pretty soon. I also think to increase the traffic a lot more promotion needs to be done so people get to know Persona Paper.

I'm concentrating my writing efforts on my book and other projects I have on at the moment.

WordChazer wrote on March 13, 2015, 4:45 PM

Most sites require a minimum of 400 words per article, even the content mills, and that's only my starting point when I'm writing. 400 characters is only just under 4 tweets, which is nothing. I send those when I'm more asleep than awake.

WordChazer wrote on March 13, 2015, 4:46 PM

All the posts regarding the changes are pinned on the front page when you log in so you will easily be able to see what is happening.

I'm up for both and in fact have another incoming review tonight, just finishing up now.

valmnz wrote on March 13, 2015, 6:00 PM

AliCanary I am working on other writing at the moment and the time needed here is starting to get in the way. I have several other writing projects I'm working on. Re Bubblews, I have friends there I've interacted with for nearly ten years, on a variety of sites. You form strong relationships over that time.

valmnz wrote on March 13, 2015, 6:03 PM

MaeLou I'm standing back for now, working on my book and other projects. Will just have a lower profile for a while.

AliCanary wrote on March 14, 2015, 3:13 AM

Oh certainly--I'm trying to get Robin to come back here and write--he has an account already! I saw your comment on his post, but I didn't mention it because it seemed a little like tattling--I figured it would be best for you to speak for yourself. I'm glad that you will still be writing here, though, even if it less often.

BodieMor wrote on March 16, 2015, 12:54 AM

Haven't been here for some days as I've been busy with other projects, not to mention life, but am surprised at the changes and upsets...

bestwriter wrote on March 16, 2015, 4:04 AM

Dawnwriter At sites such as this it is not just how much we earn but what impact our participation has on our connections and the site. To be told that India does not contribute is not something that makes participation here a happy activity.

GrannyGee wrote on March 29, 2015, 5:04 PM

I am playing catch up on all. Now, I see why I was told Persona Paper wasn't any more ... I think someone misunderstood.
