Sitting Here Bored Stiff

Hi fellow PP'er, I am just sitting here again waiting on my car to be looked at the tire repair shop. Not the most fun thing to do, but I would much rather do it now then be stuck on the side of the highway when my tire goes completely flat or worst blows out at highway speed. So, here I wait at our local shop patiently for my tire to be patched.

I cannot complain too much though, before this car I would spend far too many Saturday's or Sunday's at the repair shop for a myriad of reasons. This is the first time I had it in the shop for any other reason but scheduled oil changes.

The only bad part about having to had the car in the shop is that we only have one car in the family and that means I always have to wait. One time, with our first car I had to wait 8 hours at the shop for it to be repaired. Not that I enjoy it, but there really is nothing I can do and therefore I have to accept it.

Fortunately, this shop had free WiFi so I can at least surf the web and log on here at Persona Paper and pass the time. I should get plenty of reading and commenting done for today.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

One can understand the frustration goping through your mind, but you cannot do much about it...but wait

Exactly, but I definitely understand, with so many people that are bound to be in the same situation and they work on a first come, first serve basis.
The first shop and my usual place I take my car I was told it would be another 2 hour wait.

Hope you get out of there fast. I know how boring that can be.

I got out faster than they original told me and it did not cost me a penny. I was very happy and it made the wait well worth it.

That is GREAT, glad it did not cost anything

Atleast you are able to come on here and get some work done. Is the shop not near any places where you can do some browsing or even some grocery shopping done? I guess with not knowing how long you'll be waiting you wouldn't want to get anything perishable. If I didn't live far I'd just call a cab to take me home, or even walk.

Yeah, those car repairs always require a good chunk of time to be set aside. I always carry my portable game system with me for those moments :) But at least they had free wi-fi!

That was a great thing to find out as soon as I sat down in the waiting room.

I live about 7 miles from the shop and the stores are more than a couple miles away.

When I have to wait anywhere, I have a book or my Kindle tucked into my purse. I also take my camera and go for a photo walk for part of the time while I wait. That way I can at least enjoy myself.

Free wi-fi cures a lot of ills. I used to carry crossword puzzle inserts in my daytimer to pass the time if I got stuck somewhere, but now everything is in the phone!

I know what you mean, back before the internet and mobile devices we had to amuse ourselves, LOL.

we have had quite a few tires patched on our car at different times too, sometimes it beats having to buy a whole new tire

I don't get bored as long as my smartphones can connect to internet but my eyes got irritated haha

I have also taken to PPing while in a long queue or waiting something out.

Looking at the comments, it seems everything went well for you. I hate waiting. I just don't have the patience for it. LOL!

You might as well ask the owner if you can help to do some work, and get discount off your bill.

Soonerdad3 wrote on March 14, 2015, 10:46 AM

Since it is a chain store, that is not an option. It would be a great idea though.

scheng1 wrote on March 14, 2015, 10:49 AM

If that is a franchise, the owner works for himself. He may ask you to clean the rags.

yeah really frustrating, hope that day gets better

I love the way that you turned this into a positive experience, by being able to do something that you enjoyed, while waiting, Jon. I am also glad to hear that things went fairly well (seeing the comments).
