Frustrated!

So, for the first time, I decided to just go ahead and write a couple of articles here, right on the PP page, since others seem to do that and it obviously cuts out steps. I completed two, each within a different PP tab on my browser. Seems reasonable? Well, just as I decided to save the articles by cutting and pasting them to a Word doc, we had a mini power outage! You know, the kind that just turns everything off for a few seconds and then on again, leaving you with flashing digital clocks and other minor annoyances? EXCEPT my laptop also shut down!!! And when I rebooted, the PP tabs were gone, too! (...though others stayed up... What's with that?) :straight-face:

So I went to "new article" and hit "restore article" and one of them came up - which I've since posted. But the long one I wrote about a bit of my history IS GONE! emoticon

I mean, I know I can re-recall my little story, but it flowed out so smoothly the first time and I liked it. Now I'll have to try to repeat what I wrote, plus I've lost the time I could otherwise have put into my book writing...

And on top of that, I always found the PP method of adding a pic to cover the brown "P" in the avatar window, wonderfully simple, but now it has changed, and I have no idea where to begin! I mean, why does it say "replace image" when I haven't even inserted one?

This is where "AAARRRGGGHHH" seems like the most appropriate thing to say!

Oh, yaaaay, I just figured "it" out!!!

Restore cache only stores the latest one. Remember this, the next time. emoticon

My instinct to save was good, but I didn't get a chance. And I wanted to post them in order, but had written the second first, so... dumb... Well, I'm learning, lol

You did get your posts up so I guess that went well. Nice drawing! Did you draw it yourself? It really captured your emotion!

There is always the temptation to write directly on the site but I try not to since I have lost many good posts that way.

Learning is an ongoing process and if we do not then we are losers. emoticon

I like your drawing! Sorry about the power outage. I also have felt the frustration of losing a post I spent some time on, and there wasn't even any good reason for it emoticon  I guess by now you know how the new picture editor works, so yay for that.

I have posted 2 posts without a photo because none would upload. But, I just posted one with a pic that did upload. Yup - I was frustrated! Now I should go back and add pics.

That can be a good lesson to learn and next time you know what to do.

BodieMor wrote on March 5, 2015, 10:46 PM

Yes, I drew it in the midst of my pique with a pencil and red pen I had at hand, lol!

Someone else suggested it as a way to have all your spaces stay in place -- which it does, requiring much less effort to create an easily readable post. If I post an article written in Word, all the line spacing changes.

Thanks... Don't know if I will find time after dinner to rewrite the post I lost. And I know how the new picture editor works only in terms of when selecting from my own hard drive!

BodieMor wrote on March 5, 2015, 10:50 PM

Are you getting them from your hard drive or the internet?

BodieMor wrote on March 5, 2015, 10:52 PM

Yep, for sure! But I easily fall into patterns I prefer and chafe when I have to change what works for me, lol.

wolfgirl569 wrote on March 5, 2015, 11:18 PM

I would guess that your longer article was the first one you typed out and that is why it is gone.

BodieMor wrote on March 6, 2015, 12:05 AM

Yep, that would be why. I had already typed a little bio post and then realized I would like to first explain that I wanted to do mostly bio recollections here and... *sigh* ... C'est la vie!

Frustrated? I am with you on this.I have not been posting much recently,I start to write one post today and problem after problem crops up.For the time being it is better to read others' posts I think.

BodieMor wrote on March 6, 2015, 1:05 AM

hahaha! Yes, that's what I've been doing. I'll tackle rewriting my lost post on another day!

valmnz wrote on March 6, 2015, 1:23 AM

i only ever write straight on to the PP template and post, without saving it elsewhere,. Most of the time it is fine. re the replace image, unless you do so it will publish the image from the previous article.

That's why I followed the suggestion I read - seemed easier. Not for me, I guess...

Your drawing captures the emotions so well. I felt exactly like this during our cricket match against India. It is always best to write and save posts in word document because sometimes it id difficult to capture the exact words again.

crowntower wrote on March 6, 2015, 2:10 AM

I think that is really annoying. Anyway about the "replace image" just click on that button and upload your photo it will be fine. I guess that was the solution came up after the Image Wizard did not run. I hope you can still find the motivation to rewrite what you have lost in your article... but it is important to save always,

BodieMor wrote on March 6, 2015, 10:52 AM

Thank you! And yes, I guess I'm back to doing that, although it seems to require so much editing once it is posted and the original layout unravels...

BodieMor wrote on March 6, 2015, 10:53 AM

Yes, I will rewrite it for sure - maybe today - but wish I hadn't messed up in the first place! Saving and storing from now on!

AngelSharum wrote on March 6, 2015, 12:36 PM

Glad you figured out the photo part. Sorry about the power outage.

BodieMor wrote on March 6, 2015, 5:50 PM

Oh well, s**t happens, and one moves on, lol! And I already posted my rewrite...

WordChazer wrote on March 7, 2015, 7:06 AM

Still getting to grips with the new image editor myself, so I'm not much use for advice, I'm afraid. Hope you sort it all out soon. Brownouts must be one of the silliest things that happen in the modern world.

BodieMor wrote on March 7, 2015, 1:00 PM

I've at least learned how to still be able to fetch pix off my own desktop! emoticon

Ah, it happens to the best of us. Great drawing if that's any consolation!
