Last night, I got to watch a couple of indie movies. My friend who is a fashion designer by profession but moonlights as a costume designer and set designer for films because film is her passion, gave me a USB full of movies that she was part of. These are indie films done by aspiring actors, writers, and directors. They are usually film students or long time bit actors, down and out directors, or writers who have yet written a script that has yet to see a day of shooting. LOL! I didn't mean to be mean but yeah, it basically is a bunch of movies done by nobody's. Personalities who have yet to be famous and popular but firmly believe that they have the talent to break into mainstream or even indie success. Well, after a long day yesterday, I decided to plug the USB in my television set and watch the movies in it. I actually lost count of the movies I've watched. If one movie bored me, I'd forward and skip it altogether. There were good indie movies in the USB that I liked.
One was an action adventure movie set in post-Apocalyptic Philippines. Funny, I swear the Philippines in the movie is the same Philippines we have today. LOL! There was also a romantic comedy that featured an unlikely relationship between two members of a prayer group but are secretly involved in their own personal demons. A third one is a comedy involving a hapless driver and his sixteen passengers. Well, those are the movies that I remembered. There are maybe twenty to thirty movies in the USB and I was able to watch just ten to fifteen. Like I said, I skipped the movies when I got bored so I lost count. LOL!
Call me uneducated or even unsophisticated but I cannot stand a movie that tries so hard to 'educate' me and tell me that what I just watched is 'art'. I'll pass. Thank you very much. Don't get me wrong. I've seen and watched and liked indie films before. I guess like mainstream movies, some indie films are really good and others not so much.
Do you guys like watching indie films? Tell us what you like.
