Applying for a job

This time last year I had just returned to work from my maternity leave, I had decided to start some studies as I worked part time from home.

The chosen studies were so that once finished I could pursue a more focused career than just admin, I knew that the role I was seeking typically didn't turn up too often without commanding some experience so I was willing to wait.

Within weeks of starting my studies, my employer was struggling to pay me so I uploaded my cv to a job board, they then actually contacted me with a job that was fairly local. I didn't think I could do it, I didn't have the experience, yet I went for it.

I got the job.

Fast forward 11 months and I am going for the next job up, I should say I don't think I will get it, although my line manager has said she wouldn't let me go for it if I couldn't get it. I think though it may be a little before my time.

It seems you were apprehensive about being able to do your present job, yet your boss thinks you've done well enough that you're ready to move up. Maybe she sees something in you that you don't see in yourself.

I wish you success in applying for the new position.

That's fantastic. Even if you don't get the job, you'll know what to expect next time. Best case scenario, you get a new job. Everything will be great.
