So Do You Guys Wait For A Sale...

So do you guys, wait for a sale before purchasing something? Or do you say, '$crew it! Its my money, I'm gonna spend it the way i want to!!!'

The reason I asked was because yesterday was the start of a mall wide sale in one of the biggest shopping malls here in our country, I have no plans of buying anything or even going to the mall as I abhor crowded malls and we all know that sales are people magnets!!! Anyway, I was going to meet a friend in the same area, I decided to check out an item I had wanted to purchase a couple of months ago. I've into mixed martial arts, boxing, and muay thai (wrote about it here, ) so I was looking for a new set of fight shorts. I saw one in a local sports shop in that mall but decided against buying it at that time because of its price. Truth be told, it really isn't expensive, I'm just a cheapskate!!! LOL! So when I first heard about the sale, buying the fight shorts was the first thought that came to mind. Alas, it wouldn't be as the fight short was not included in the sale and it is still being offered at its regular price.

Anyway, I decided not to purchase the fight shorts. I really didn't feel that bad because I know that if I really want to, I could purchase the fight shorts, sale or no sale. However, there lies the difference... I WANTED to buy the fight shorts... I DIDN'T NEED to buy it. Big difference there between WANT and NEED. So me deciding not to buy it was fine after a couple of minutes because I know I had made a good financial decision. The decision wouldn't make me a millionaire overnight but I know it is the right one for the long term.

So my fellow bubblers, do you wait for an item to go on sale before buying it or do you just go ahead and purchase the item?

Feel free to chime in my fellow PPers!!!

Always up for a sale on want items vs need items.

It really depends on what I need to buy. If it's a car, yes, I'll look for a sale. When it comes to things like groceries, there's always something on sale, and I never buy ONLY what's on my grocery list anyway.

It depends on what the item is mostly. Clothes I usually wait unless something really catches my attention.

No. Cause Sale is no good for the items that I really like. Sometimes on sale you are most likely buying the last pairs and the quality are not good. So I pray a brand new design even if it is a little expensive, so I can wear and use it more without worries that it might fail.

No,I do not wait for the sales. Not because I do not like buying things at reduced rates, but as I am not comfortable shopping among huge Crowds.

Nothing wrong waiting for the sale. I enjoy buying things on sale because I know the profit margin is too big for the sellers and I don't like being exploited. I don't mind paying more, even much more for quality but to pay four times the worth? I don't think so. On the sale I can have the same product for half the price and the seller is still making a lot of money. Nothing to do with being a cheapskate.

I never believe in sales as I know there is some gimmick they will be up to!

I try not to overbuy as well (need v. want), but for all of the things I do need to buy, I try to get as many of them as possible on sale.
