Raiding My Cousin's Book Shelf! - BOOKS - Category Challenge

so i went over to my cousin's place and borrowed his 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' collection. he has all the books and is currently reading through it. apparently, he has this habit of reading one book at a time but the rest of the books should be with him while he reads. very peculiar habit in my view but that's how he rolls so i'm not messing with it. i didn't want to spoil his reading schedule so i got the whatever book that i can from the series and read it while he was playing video games. i actually read 'The Third Wheel'.

i don't want to turn this discussion into a book review and spoil the story for the other's who haven't read it yet. not really sure, if there are other PPers who share the same interest really. anyway, i just find myself going through the book collections of relatives and finding gems in their mini-libraries. a couple of summers ago i was looking through the books of an aunt. she has literally two rooms filled with books. the walls of both rooms were lined up with shelves. aside from the shelves, there were books that were in boxes that were stacked. i found a lot of books there that were interesting to me. i even found a couple that were not of interest but turned out to be good reads.

so my fellow PPers, where do you usually go to find the next book that you will read? do you check out the book reviews posted in websites or even in those printed in magazines and book stores? do you check out what everyone else is reading at the moment? do you go out on an adventure and check what your relatives or friends are reading and take a chance on that book?

feel free to chime in my fellow PPers!!! cheers!!!

That's too bad! I bet you are really busy with all the other things that you do.

I've seen this series in the book store recently - it seems really popular.

It seems popular, but it's one I haven't picked up. My resolution for 2015 is not to buy any new book this year. I've got too many unread books lying around the house. Really. I took an inventory. About 80.

All I need to do is look through my shelves, boxes and Kindle. I'll never get it all read before I die.

I either have the books I wanna read, or I go to the library or Baltimore Book Thing (which is a place where you can take free donated books). My teenage niece has a book shelf in her room; she LOVES to read.

That's a lot of unread book msiduri . I think i have around five to six unread book. Not sure, perhaps around ten but not 80! LOL!

Do you some sort of reading resolution BarbRad ? Like let's say reading and finishing a number of books within a month or perhaps a week?

allen0187 wrote on March 1, 2015, 7:02 PM

That is really nice cheri .

What sort of books does your niece read ViperGirl85 ? The idea of giving away unused books is nice. I really like that!

Yes, it is. And that's why I'm not buying any more for the moment and working down the pile.

My son read some of those books. I love to read strange stories myself.
