Clothes Conscious?

Fashion so-called gurus crack me up! They think they're so smart in telling everyone what's "in" and what's not in. But it's ridiculous! Fashion designers design out of their heads, not toward a trend but in making a trend! Who's to say we have to follow what's in someone else's head? I think that's just plain nuts!

For most of my life, I've dressed for ME! I don't dress to please anyone else but myself. Even in school, I'd choose my own style and mix and match things. People loved what I wore, for the most part. And, sure, it's nice to have approval. But if I looked in the mirror and didn't like what I saw, or if I went into a boutique and tried something on and it just didn't feel right, off it would go and I'd keep going until I found what was right for me. And that often means taking something from one place and mixing it with something from another place and interspercing things from my own closet and jewelry box.

Follow trends if you must. But don't forget that leaders, even in the fashion world, come from everywhere! Not just the big houses of Paris and London.

I used to try and follow fashions when I was younger, now I follow my own. The problem with a lot of the popular fashions is if you don't have the approved body shape, forget it. As I get older I find I prefer to not look like everyone else. I break the rules, I wear bright colors, stripes and polka dots if I feel like it. I follow Advanced Style (http://advancedstyle.blogspot.com/) and love, love LOVE the ladies who dress to their personalities.

Ellen Warren, Chicago Tribune fashion columnist says there are no rules regarding fashion these days. Just wear what you like.

I don;t think it is important unless if your have to go somewhere else, of course we need to be dress up a little. But Me? just wearing comfortable jeans or dresses is fine, the simple I get the more beautiful I feel. Lol! God bless.

I wear what is comfortable and appropriate. Other times though, I really take time to wear something really nice even if I come across as overdressed.

I am a utilitarian dresser. I go for comfort and what goes well on my body type. Some people want to follow what's "in" . I believe in the saying " to each his own" .
