Southern Illinois weather is so crazy!

Just the other day I took my son and nephews to a park to play. The weather was 62 degrees with sunshine and it felt great. For February in Southern Illinois, 62 degrees is not a common temperature. Then something horrible happen. A week later the weather turned for the worst. We received 10 inches of snow and the temperature plummeted. We had record cold, with temperature of -15 degrees, with wind chills much colder. I love where I live but the weather is so crazy. My son's school cancelled classes the entire week due to the cold. A few days after the cold outbreak, the temperatures raised up a little and we ended up having a freezing rain storm on top of the snow. I just can't wait for another month or so and we will have warmer weather. Of course when the warmer weather comes, comes the tornado since I do live in tornado ally. I suppose good always comes with bad but I'm willing to suffer with the sever weather, so I can experience the glory of warmer weather.

My mom and dad are from Centralia, IL. Mom said the summers there were so hot. My dad's family is from Charleston IL. We all went to EIU for our undergrad degrees. Why on earth they all settled in the Chicago area is beyond me. Well, that is where the jobs are.

Yes the summers here are extremely hot. with temperatures with reaching over 100 degrees for sometimes weeks at a time. So if anyone enjoys Hot and cold for some crazy reason this would be the place to live. I would have to agree that is why they live in Chicago for the job opportunity

Thank you for the time that you gave me to read my post and comment.

Wow you really do get it all, don't you? I don't envy you the tornadoes. I do, however, envy the 60+ degree temps you had. We have feet and feet of snow here in New England and it can't all melt at once or we'll all be flooded away. But I am yearning for spring!

Yes, we get all of it but i'm used tot it since this is where I grew up. on the other hand my fiancee is from the Philippians and she has a shocking experience coming when she comes to live here at the end of this year. I have seen the pictures of all the feet of snow in the New England area and I would like to experience that at least once in my life...feet and feet of snow. I know the pictures do not do it justice. Yes let's all vote for spring to come!!

rodabod I spent one winter season almost 20 years ago in Arlington Heights, IL it was a pretty though experience for me, but for the locals it was just a regular winter, oh boy. Hope the weather gets better and you get to enjoy the warmer months soon.

Right now here in North East Georgia where I live, we are having the same type of odd crazy weather as you are having!
