Goodbye Vacation - Maybe!

So, tomorrow is the end of our mid-winter break! Or is it?

Here in NY, they are predicting -35 wind chill factor in the morning and for Tuesday morning as well. That means the kids that have to walk or stand at bus stops will not be able to do so safely. So, the big question is whether or not our vacation will actually end tomorrow or we will be right here where we are tonight waiting to get back into our routines. We actually had a snow day the day before vacation began! Ugh!

I for one am hoping that we go back as we are out of Snow Days and seriously in need of a routine week with a regular class schedule. However, not at the expense of the kids and their safety.

Do you live in an area where school is often cancelled for weather?

I live in the same Chicago suburb in which I grew up, and school was never closed when I was a kid. We stood out there waiting for the bus in -20. As a teacher, we had a few snow days in my school district, but not very often. -13 did not cause schools to close. A huge dumping of snow will do it sometimes.

Where I am in Ohio it gets canceled for snow or ice, fog, and in the spring sometimes for flooding. The fog is usually just a delay but sometimes lasts late enough to cancel

That is seriously cold. Weather not great in Spain either and many schools have been closed because of it.

Come to sunny Malaysia where every day is a sunny day. I would love to meet you here.

Here in Manila, classes are usually suspended due to typhoons and flooding. That is a common occurrence during the latter part of the year.
