Elite Visitors Has Closed Down

Well, the news on the paid-to-write front keeps getting more and more grim by the day. First, it was CGP Gallery that has failed to pay members and is reportedly having some difficulty with PayPal. Now, Elite Visitors has gone under, and in a rather spectacular way.

According to a member of EV, the admin has run off with the money. It seems no one will be paid and the site is already returning an error and is not available. I did try to check it out,

I had joined Elite Visitors at the suggestion of a friend, checked it out but never really felt comfortable there, so I wrote just one post. I added a few friends, but never really went back.

Now, I am glad I did not return. At least I lost a matter of a few cents instead of dollars.

I haven't returned to CGP Gallery, either.

At this point, my writing sites are Bubblews and Persona Paper.

Did you write at Elite Visitors? Have you lost any money due to the failure of the site?

The way things are going with writing and blogging sites on the web Persona Paper will soon be the only one worth being on!

Soonerdad3 wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:15 PM

I never heard of Elite Visitor until today when another member wrote about it. It does not surprise me to hear that someone took off with the money and no one will get paid. Nothing surprises me these days on the Internet and no one truly knows who they can trust. I feel sorry for those members who will not be paid.

Feisty56 wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:15 PM

No, I hadn't heard of Elite Visitors and now I'm just as glad. Happy to hear you had only the one post there.

Shadi wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:16 PM

I had an account there but never published anything. With more sites failing to pay users, people will have less trust in new ones.

oneoveralpha wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:17 PM

I'm not entirely sure what the whole story is, but that really, really sucks.

msiduri wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:25 PM

There appears to be a sea change. But it stands to reason that one cannot make money simply writing about what breakfast or a snotty coworker. I never joined CGP Gallery because, as I understood it (at least at the time) they required members' banking information. Elite Visitors I just never got around to. I don't credit myself with foreseeing theft of this scale. The first time I went to Daily Two Cents, I downloaded a bucketful of malware. Wild horse couldn't drag me back. Bubblews I'm not posting at again. So we'll see how this goes.

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:29 PM

Persona Paper is definitely on the up-and-up and at least you know you're not being scammed. I never gave CGP any info, but I only wrote four posts and realized that I was making too much money and it wasn't going to be paid, so I didn't bother to do it anymore. I hope BB doesn't go under, but these days, who knows?

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:31 PM

I think that PP is the one where people feel the most secure about the future. I know it won't disappear suddenly and without warning. I don't know that any site is secure from failure, but I think that we can be sure that we would know what is going on if something happened to PP.

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:32 PM

Too many sites were springing up at once. There is only so much traffic for any site and there's no way they can make the revenue to cover what they say they will pay out on most of these sites.

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:33 PM

Actually, I think I had two - but i can't get into the site to check. In any case, no big loss to me so I am glad. Good thing you never heard of it, at least you have no losses there. Some are not so lucky.

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:34 PM

I didn't like the way it felt. Something didn't work for me. I am glad I didn't get too busy there.

Soonerdad3 wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:35 PM

Exactly, that is what happened to Bubblews and they realized very too late to really fix it.

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:35 PM

I guess it is that one of the owners stole all the money and took off, leaving the other owners in the lurch. A very bad situation for people who went there tr ying to replace the money they lost on Bubblews.

msiduri wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:39 PM

If I may say, you made a wise choice to get out before you wasted any more time there. And Mamma was right: If it sounds to good to be true....

seren3 wrote on February 22, 2015, 6:48 PM

Sad about that! I had seen it here and there but can only engage with so many sites at once, so hadn't joined.

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 7:01 PM

Well, you were lucky that you didn't join. At least it's one less disappointment.

WordChazer wrote on February 22, 2015, 7:08 PM

I didn't look into EV, as I was hearing that it was not suitable for my writing style or location. Looks like the idea of having my own blog might actually be a good one after all.

CoralLevang wrote on February 22, 2015, 7:19 PM

Leaving Bubblews (for the most part), I was already here at PP. I signed up at EV and CGP. Both didn't feel "right." I deleted all that I had written and asked for closing account. Glad I did.

CoralLevang wrote on February 22, 2015, 7:29 PM

I just visited the site and it has this message: Maintenance mode Hey guys, we're moving EV to http://www.bestwriters.net Please bear with us, we'll move the whole thing there so we can continue the interaction in a peaceful community without the scammer Ryan. I'm giving Ryan 24 hours, I know you're reading this, either pay the members, or I will out your sensitive information so the members can sue you for scamming...-Brad.

Honestly, that doesn't sound very professional, either. Stealing the money is not professional, but threatening people online isn't either.

RonElFran wrote on February 22, 2015, 10:33 PM

I've heard of Elite Visitors but never really knew anything about them. Apparently they are trying to save the business by moving the site. It'll be interesting to see if any of their writers stick with them.

Anja wrote on February 22, 2015, 10:58 PM

I don't see how moving it will do much. Everyone will still be out all the money they were promised from before and the company has no money.. I just don't see it working. None of thes e newer sites are going to be around long.

wolfgirl569 wrote on February 22, 2015, 11:05 PM

I had joined and checked it out at the same time as I joined this site. Glad I liked it here so much

allen0187 wrote on February 23, 2015, 12:33 AM

I didn't join Elite Visitors but I did hear about it here in Persona Paper. I feel for the people that joined the site and didn't get anything from it.

CoralLevang wrote on February 23, 2015, 4:29 AM

I agree. Even if I were still there, I would get out of there very quickly. Bad juju.

Hollyhocks100 wrote on February 23, 2015, 7:05 AM

I checked it out, but didn´t sign up. As for bubblews, I won´t be posting in there again unless the great Arvind stops titting about and answers some questions.

scheng1 wrote on February 23, 2015, 7:41 AM

I can still see the site. I wonder if they have reopened the site.

NorthernLight wrote on February 23, 2015, 8:38 AM

Whoops! It was only last week I was making enquiries and considering joining Elite Visitors. Word must have got out! Seriously it's rather disturbing how some of these sites suck you in and steal your time and effort (Bubblews just steals your money, says it's not their fault and suckers you back with false promises of a new dawn). What a shame something can't be done about these dodgy operators!

Anja wrote on February 23, 2015, 10:54 AM

You can see the cached page. It's not live. Their new site isn't live yet, either, so all those posts are in limbo.

Anja wrote on February 23, 2015, 10:56 AM

Aha! So, it was your fault! It sounds very depressing, but my new rule is to never join a site that promises to pay you an amount you would be happy to earn. Always join the site that promises little, then at the very least, your disappointment will be much less acute.

MaeLou wrote on February 23, 2015, 4:01 PM

Agreed. I think if you can out and threaten someone in public like that, then it just shows how unprofessional you really are.

BodieMor wrote on February 23, 2015, 6:13 PM

I've never blogged, and find I enjoy it, as well as people I've "met" here. If $ comes, that will be nice, but after reading so many posts like the ones here, I won't hold my breath!

valmnz wrote on February 23, 2015, 7:19 PM

It seems, from reading things here, they may have reopend as BestWriters. One of the owners apparently has been upfront about what happened.

valmnz wrote on February 23, 2015, 7:20 PM

I think I published one, maybe two pieces there, before I decided it was only a Bubblews copycat and moved over here.

Anja wrote on February 24, 2015, 8:10 AM

The site is up, no one has bank balances. One former BB writer who wrote at EV lost $80. Sound familiar? The too-good-to-be-true is always too good to be true.

maxeen wrote on February 24, 2015, 9:01 AM

The more interaction on one site should surely take away the need to go on more sites..

Anja wrote on February 24, 2015, 9:19 AM

I have always cared about the money. I am not too proud to admit it. I have no redeeming qualities. I just want a few bucks. But it's nice to make money and have fun at the same time. :)

GemstonePink wrote on February 25, 2015, 6:38 PM

I just took a look at Bubblews and it looks really dead. Not sure where their ads went. Hope Persona Paper builds and stays strong.

shiela32 wrote on February 26, 2015, 5:25 AM

The truth really hurts - I am one of their active members. When I checked the new site today, only few people are posting. What happened there really affected me.

arthurchappell wrote on February 27, 2015, 3:27 AM

I never used Elite Visitors - glad you hadn't invested too much time and energy there before they imploded like that

DorothyGale wrote on July 17, 2015, 7:12 PM

Such a shame -- not only because there were writers who weren't paid, but because it's getting harder and harder to find decent writing sites.
