This is the news update...

Our local train system, the MRT, is down, well, not all of it. Just some parts of it... almost everyday. There are no trains travelling from the North Avenue Station up to the Shaw Station and vice-versa because of a power interruption. Trains are only travelling from Shaw station up to Taft station.

Wow! Just wow! This has been a regular thing. Not sure if they are doing this on purpose to justify the recent fare increase and quiet the various groups who want to roll back the prices to the previous one.

Don't you just hate it when the city's transport system sucks? To my international connections, how's the transport system in your city/country?

More transportation news but again this is local based as well.

There's a clamor for a fare hike because of the increase in the price of gas and petroleum.

Expected to follow... fare hike ---> demand for higher salary ---> increased prices of goods ---> more demand for higher salary---> nothing happens!!!

LOL!

To explain, the fare hike will prompt people to ask for a salary increase from their employers, companies will decline the requests. Workers will rally and demand for better pay. Meanwhile, companies will increase their fees and prices on the goods and services that they give citing the recent fare hike. This is turn will make the demand for salary increases louder and wider across the country. Politicians will use these issues to get media mileage but nothing will happen and then everyone will just be contented in accepting the fare hike.

However, the beneficiaries of the fare hike, the public transportation drivers, will not benefit from it. The fare hike will just go to the owners and operators of their vehicles and will just be added as 'grease money' to the corrupt cops and local and national officials.

News update over.

Now, here is the rant...

I need to post first when I log into the site. Not check the recent activity. Not check my profile page comments. Not anything.

Post. First.

Rant over.

Daily commuting in MRT is synonymous to a nightmare, only that you're awake and yes, on your way to school or work. That is why I have stopped patronizing them and instead, I have resorted to bus transportation.

If our MRT breaks down so often, the ruling political party will lose the election.

Since I am not daily commuter I have not kept myself updated on what's going on this part of the world emoticon

This is horrible. I hope something can be done about this. More people should speak out and let their voices be heard. The ones in power should be trying to do something about this and not ignoring the needs of the people. This is frustrating. I usually post first too after logging on to Persona Paper or I write my post while checking my notifications and the latest articles here.

In my small country (Switzerland) the public transport is excellent, always on schedule. I never had transport problems. In my native country (Italy) it's another matter.

My local train system is pretty good at the minute, new trains and increased frequency, so very happy. They have increased the fares but that doesn't affect me because I have an old age pass You're right about posting first, VERY IMPORTANT!

You can tell that those in power don't use the MRT! When I login I always check my notifications before I do anything else.

There were a couple of Senators and even Department Secretaries, basically some high ranking officials from the government who took MRT rides, and they all agreed that some improvements are badly needed.

I'm doing that now.

Our train system is by far the worst in the region. New trains are on the way, repairs will be done but all these steps aren't enough.

I'm glad you agree MegL .

Well there is nothing we can do with the corrupts and selfish people in the world. I think MRT will have a weekend repairs... just for the weekends not on weekdays. I think the woner of it are all greedy. They just want to take and take. They see their bigger lost but they never see the might have been tragic incidents of their negligence, imagine the last footage of a Netizen, MRT are running with the doors open!
Employees should really have a raised because it is really unfair for them, but I think it is also unfair for the company giving raise to their lazy employees.

Goods! goods that was transported from provinces to Manila will eagerly ask for a price increase because the corrupt officials in the provinces I think is one of the main factors why they want to get an increase except for those abused people who wants to sell their goods -- over pricing!
