Good morning or whatever part of the day it is for you. Today is Thursday February 19, 2015. The temperature is 56.3°F and the humidity is 89% at 6:07 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 1.6 with gusts of 3.8 mph. It was overcast when I stuck my head out this morning and there was some fog when I looked down the street. No stars, no moon. Should clear up before I have to leave for my drive today. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 75 today. It’s also posted a dense fog advisory, but that usually affects places closer to the coast worse than it does here.
My sister is down here in California from Alaska. I didn’t expect to see her until my wedding next month, but she got news that her father was dying and decided to see him before he went. She hadn’t seen him in 13 years and had had no contact with him because, in short, he’s an abusive, lying, manipulating b@st@ard. She was told that he was dying of cirrhosis of the liver, had recently suffered two back-to-back heart attacks and a stroke and wasn’t expected to live through the weekend. Last weekend that is.
Long story short, he was discharged from the hospital on Sunday and hail and hearty enough to make himself breakfast on Monday morning.
I’m not sure if the bullsh!t and manipulation were the sole effort of his present wife or the handiwork of his daughter(s) by his first marriage or it was a joint effort.
On the bright side, she and I and our other sister got to spend time together. My dearly beloved and I took her to the beach on Tuesday. Not that they don’t have beaches in Alaska, but, as she pointed out, they smell like fish there. Her husband and sons, who are freshmen in college, are fond of fishing and will drive hours to Seward or Valdez to fish. She, less so.
We spent hours catching up.
Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy. Hope the day treats you well.
