The Romanians Are Coming
There was a program on television yesterday called The Romanians Are Coming. It appears to me to be fueled as a program aimed at people who do not like immigration coming to England.
The immigration rules have been changed so now Romanians have free movement within the country and can work, live and what many have a problem with, claim benefits.
This program showed where the people had come from, what they were leaving behind and how they were surviving over here. It was certainly eye opening and a little upsetting.
Back in their home country many were living in appalling housing with no health care, one mans child had broken her leg and was in constant pain, being unable to afford to fix the pain. That would not happen hear.
The men and elder sons of families have come to England to look for work, are willing to learn the language to send money home to their familes, many also living homeless.
I would prefer that they weren't entitled to state benefits but in the same way that I don't think a native englishman should be able to just get benefits. To me benefits are to be used in times of need, when you loose a job, until you find a new job. I know that jobs are not easy to come by but these guys sure aren't taking our jobs, if they were they would come and there would be no work as all our unemployed people would already be in them.
It was eye opening and made me want to do something to help, I'm not sure what yet but it has put the thought in my mind.
