The real start to the UEFA Champions League
After a two-month hiatus the UEFA Champions League will resume on February 17th with two matches in the Round of 16. For many this is the real start to the competition.
The first two matches will see a couple of the favorites in action:
1. Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Bayern Munich at The Arena Luiv in Lviv,Ukraine
2. Paris Saint Germain vs Chelsea at the Parc de Princes in Paris, France
Football fans will certainly expect to enjoy high level games in this round. The heavy favorites Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have relatively easy matchups, while other strong candidates such as Chelsea and Barcelona will face thought competition from Paris SG and Manchester City respectively.
For those of you that are not football (soccer) fans, the UEFA Champions League is one of the most prestigious tournaments at the club level and many of the world's best players are present on this edition.
What team do you think will win the Champions League this year? Will Real Madrid win back-to-back titles?

I used to follow football much more but I still remember why it's one of the most exciting sport games. :)

I hadn't heard of this. Is it a precursor to qualify for the World Cup, or a separate thing altogether?

Seren3 Yes, even though is an European championship at the club level, many fans around the world follow the Champions League.

It's a separate tournament, and is played at the Club level, only for European clubs, but since most of the best players in the world are currently playing there it becomes by default one of the most popular tournaments every year.
