Documentary review: Forks Over Knives

"You see, there’s no money in healthy people, and there’s no money in dead people. The money is in the middle: people who are alive, sort of, but with one or more chronic conditions..."
I just watched a documentary "Forks Over Knives" and I must say it was quite an eye opener.
I am not a # vegetarian and I am not advocating any diet but I strongly feel this documentary should be watched by anyone who wants to know why there are so many people dying of cancers, coronary heart diseases, obesity and why in spite of all health care spending, millions of people are dying of degenerative diseases in US today.
The documentary has been directed by Lee Fulkerson and follows the research of two scientists, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn, who believe that changing our diet to plant based food can combat diseases like obesity, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer and stop our dependence on pills and medicines .
The documentary also shows how big corporations influence the work, laws and decisions of US government whose primary focus is not public health, but profit of these companies.
Whether you agree or strongly disagree with the work of the director and the scientists, this documentary is worth watching because it might help us make smart choices regarding what we eat and understanding how it impacts our health.
I definitely recommend it.

I need to see this documentary, as it chimes with the way I think about food. Thanks for the reminder.
PS: sugar? High fructose corn syrup? I rest my case.

I feel that corporations the government etc solely care for their profits due to the fact unhealthy food is so cheap where as healthy is costly, people simply cannot afford to eat what is healthy, leading to health issues which then costs them to fork out for medicines

It sounds like a very good film. Many of us are innocently unaware of the factors behind our food supply - and also how corporations dictate what health insurance will cover, and how doctors are allowed to function.

We have to take charge of our own life and do what we can knowing in whose interest governments work.
