My Youngest 4legger

This is my youngest 4legger, Ally. She just turned four in December and is beginning to nap more. I guess in terms of canine development she is equivalent to a twenty something human. Don’t get me wrong, she is still active and when given the opportunity will run circles … literally … around me in hopes that I will try to tag her.

She is the only pup I have ever chosen to adopt, I needed a companion for Mykey so I went to the Humane Society and chose a puppy for him to help me raise. Turned out that he loves puppies.

This is the part that really threw me for a loop, upon asking if they knew anything about her lineage I was told her mother was German Shepherd and her father Husky.

Her coat is nothing like either breed plus her ears won’t stand erect as it should for both breeds. I have come to find out that she does have some Husky tendencies though, she loves to run and she verbalizes much the same as a Husky. She loves water, I have the hardest time in the summer when I try to water the trees, she will do all she can to bite the stream of water and eventually ends up sopping wet.

Oh well, I don’t think I will ever find out what all she may have in her lineage but at least I know she is a sweetheart … oh, did I tell you she has one huge booming bark? Yeah, to listen to her you’d think you were coming upon a really huge dog, but she only weighs about 48 or so pounds, not really all that big.

Well, doesn’t she look like she’s enjoying her nap?

I guess she must be Husky and something smaller, golder, and floppy-eared. Golden retriever seems to fit, especially since she loves water and is very sweet. Ally is a good name ;)

One of the things I miss in my life is having a dog. I had one as a child, but not since. But honestly, I'm not prepared to put the effort into taking care of one. But I still wish I had one.

She is cute, hard to guess the way she is laying but my first thought seeing the picture was boxer

Our babies need their rest especially the 4 legged ones. My Frenzal spends many hours getting his beauty sleep.

Yea, she does have a slender build which makes we wonder which breeds have that slender look, she's long legged too. Glad you like her name.

I had to, I couldn't stand to live alone and both my dogs and cat give me the comfort of companionship ... I can also confide in them, they never gossip about me. LOL

rebelann1949 wrote on February 14, 2015, 9:18 PM

I think so too LOL of course ... hummm, hadn't thought of boxer but it is possible.

rebelann1949 wrote on February 14, 2015, 9:19 PM

Of course they do LOL. She's just now starting to nap more, I'm betting if I were more energetic she would be too, shame on me =\

Pets are the best. We have a pug and there are days that I feel like she is my very best friend. There are also moments where I wonder what she is thinking, but hey that's what we get with pets! Love when people share about their pets.

Yep totally, I don't know what I'd do without them.

Oh, the way to tell what they want you to know is to watch them for a while, eventually they'll have you well trained emoticon

Four is still rather young. Our youngest feline is six, and she is still sometimes a bit kitten-brained. However, I shouldn't say that in front of her, because she gives me The Look.

rebelann1949 wrote on February 17, 2015, 9:01 AM

Oh yes, she's still relatively young but she has calmed down since she was a yearling.

LilyDay wrote on February 17, 2015, 6:13 PM

"Baby" kitty has also calmed down quite a bit. However, she still does some things that make me wonder about her.

A good example of her odd behaviors is when she gets irritated that I am batting at her brother's tail-- not jealous, but irritated. She's taken swings at me (without connecting) for that sort of behavior and stalked off pouting. Now, if he doesn't mind me doing that, why should she care if I am teasing him? The older two kitties and I play differently than she does, but she seems to get upset that we are "playing wrong."

rebelann1949 wrote on February 18, 2015, 11:57 AM

Kitties do seem to be just a bit different, they're not likely to do as they are told unless it is beneficial and they are in the mood, I've learned some of that too and my 2legger just lets it go most of the time ... but sometimes that 2legger gets just a little peeved at me for trying to be like Boobear. ~o.o~ Ally

Sandy is a lab/retriever mix it seems. I am really just guessing, but she loves water as well. We have a huge pond behind the house that is on the edge of our property and she loves to go check it out in the summer. It is quite marshy on our side and she always comes back with mud all over her but happy as a lark. Ally is a cutie. It is amazing at how the older generation of dogs help to "train" the new generation. Sandy has been like that as well.

Ally seems like a sweetie pie. She sort of looks like a German Shepherd.

rebelann1949 wrote on June 13, 2015, 12:52 AM

Yep, they do learn from the elder pups but I do hope she doesn't learn to like to hunt and kill unless its those mice.

rebelann1949 wrote on June 13, 2015, 12:54 AM

She really is sweet and her mom was a German Shepherd.

Shellyann36 wrote on July 9, 2015, 11:56 PM

She is such a cutie! I love that little look she has going... a satisfied grin.

Shellyann36 wrote on July 28, 2015, 3:09 PM

I just love this picture. She looks so sweet. I bet her and Sandy would get along real good.

rebelann1949 wrote on July 31, 2015, 2:29 PM

she still does that, as if I'm the dummy out of all of us ..... hummm, maybe I am LOLOLOLOLOL

rebelann1949 wrote on July 31, 2015, 2:32 PM

She might at that, I think she is nicer than Mykey was.

Shellyann36 wrote on July 31, 2015, 3:08 PM

UGH! Don't get me started on the things Sandy kills. She is a huntress for certain.

Shellyann36 wrote on July 31, 2015, 3:43 PM

Oh yah? Mykey is on up in age though. plus he is a male. Perhaps that is why.
