When did Saturdays Get So Busy?

There was a time Saturday was a more leisurely day, even when I was working fulltime. Sure, all my married life Saturday has been my traditional day for housework, but that was about it. Now I try to fit so much in to my day. I know it's crazy leaving the housework until the end of the week, when I could do it any day. But old habits die hard. As well as housework, I intend taking a slightly longer walk today, pulling more than a few weeds from the garden, writing so I meet next weeks deadline that I've been ignoring and baking to get back into practice. Then there'll be an hour or more on the computer writing and another hour attending to our small business. I have no idea how I fit it all in, but I usually do. I thought we were supposed to slow down as we get older, but in my case that just isn't happening. Now, if I don't get on out for me walk it may not happen.

Saturdays, for me, working full-time were always the busiest. Saturday mornings were the only time when it was possible to get a hair cut, get the car tyres changed, or something fixing, or the annual inspection done. Saturday morning was the only time to be able to post a parcel, or to collect one if you'd had the "sorry you were out" postcard. So many businesses are only open Saturday mornings, no good for full-time workers.

You just reminded me that I had better get my exercise in. Though I won't be walking but using my stationary bike. To cold to be outside. With my stationary bike, I know I will not freeze and I know I can get home in record time. :)

If the rest of your week has gotten more leisurely, I guess it all balances out, right?

Ha, ha, what's leisurely? I seem to take life on the run.

Hehehehe I think Saturday will be a little busier to some also but not to work but to date! Lol! It's heart day! I think flowers and chocolate is the highest sales this month. God bless the works of your hands.

I certainly remember that feeling.

I don't know about slowing down as we get older. My father tells me he's never been as busy as he's been since he retired.

As the saying goes 'Old habits die hard' And that is what I believe is happening to you. The fact that you are becoming aware of it is the first step towards getting out of it. And as for me, every day is a Sunday! (lol)

That's what I'm finding, catching up on a life time of things I want to do!

Talking about weeds, I just finished pulling them out early morning today since we were not able to do our morning walk at the ovals because of the early drizzle. It's a back-aching job but it gives you joy when you see the weed-free garden or lawn afterwards, right? And yes, Saturdays are busy days for office workers because it's the time to clean house, do the laundry and shopping to refill the pantry. Despite all the work like these, I hope you still get to enjoy your weekend and "rest day", Ms. Val.

Weekends for me are busier than weekdays because children are at home and need to be fed after every hour. I consider Monday to be my holiday. emoticon :winking:

I do only as I please nowadays, that really beats having to set an alarm clock so I can get to work. Funny though, back when I worked I'd have the hardest time getting to sleep and now I don't plus I'm usually up well before 5am, something I had such a hard time with when I'd have to work.

Since I got married, Saturday and Sunday have been intended doing the house work and family day like yours

Saturdays have become one of my busier days when all I want to do on Saturdays is watch cartoons!
