My thoughts on Art
I am trying to write about each of the different subjects, and am guilty of being behind.
The next one is art, something which I feel I know a bit more about. For a start there are several art forms, not just pictures, although when I think of art my first thought is paintings.
I don't think I have a favourite artist, I like several especially Ls Lowry, Van Gough, Dali, as well as any nice painting which catches my eye. I don't really have a favourite subject either, although I do have a weakness for nice sunsets. I like paintings which are well painted, and seem to bring a scene to life. In my sitting room there are two pictures, one is a Lowry print "Town Centre", which is a very busy scene, with lots of matchstick people. The second is the one which is hopefully in the photo and is a painting my husband did years ago of the Angel of the North, sadly he doesn't paint anymore.
I also enjoy statues, one of my favourites is Antony Gormley's Angel of the North, I hated it when it was first built but it's really grown on me. Locally we have quite a few different statues, and I also like seeing them abroad.
An art form I'm jealous of is people who can make beautiful quilts, and knit things. Knitting and crochet is a skill I'm still trying to learn.
I think the only art I'm any good with is photography, and I never really think that's on the same scale as painting a picture, but I do like taking photos and am trying to learn to be better at it.
The only art I don't like is modern art, unmade beds, sheep in formaldehyde all leave me cold. There's a modern art museum in Gateshead called the Baltic. The only thing I like about it is the view from the balcony. They once had an exhibit of bricks on a wall, they were numbered, I'm sure someone had taken time over it and people thought it was great, but I wasn't one of them.
