Sharing Top Secrets on the Internet

Sometimes I have some really hot little secrets that I could share on the Internet - those secrets would get me some eyeballs.... some views to my articles. But, I hesitate. I can't share those secrets because then they'd no longer be a secret - and - some hot shot with 10,000 followers would then spill the secret as theirs, write and sell an ebook of the secret and clean up. And that'd make me feel sad that I didn't have the online clout to be able to do that with my secret.

I have 2-3 hot little secrets, they're not big millionaire makers obviously, or I'd be a millionaire, but they're certainly little secrets that really do make a difference, allbeit a tiny difference.

I had loads of my ideas robbed on the other site, by somebody with a loud voice and a big following. If I squeaked, there was a post about that squeak; no nod to their source, they looked super good and so I stopped giving out my great handy tips there.

So that's why I'll have to keep my secrets to myself! It's not that I want to, it's just some others have a tendency to rob good ideas..... and, at least, I'd not give out a great little tip on a site I didn't own.

So, I will share ONE secret with you: If you are going to share secrets, do it only on a domain you own :)

I don't blame you it is awful to feel ripped off like that. If one has their own domaine/website what is the difference?

I feel your pain. My most popular posts have been plagiarized literally dozens of times. It's very frustrating!

...And hence you retain copyright to the ideas shared on your own site. Yes, good call. I am not sharing some of the secrets I've learned online for the same reason. The more you read, the more you learn. And sometimes things Just Work Anyway and no one can put a rhyme or reason to it.

well you know i actually didnt think about that, but i guess its true if your going to give out tips you should be the one getting the credit

It does rather belie the name of secret if you discuss it.

UK_Writer either that or have people sign a confidentiality agreement, so you can sue them afterwards and get tons of money emoticon :winking:

Well, if you have your own domain it feels less like you "gave it away", if you see what I mean. Slightly less of a feeling of being ripped off.

UK_Writer wrote on February 12, 2015, 6:38 PM

Yes - and all for $0.000001 worth to us.

UK_Writer wrote on February 12, 2015, 6:39 PM

Yes, on your own site you feel less anonymous for having said it. Here, in the melee of a crowd of strangers ones voice feels more lost.

UK_Writer wrote on February 12, 2015, 6:39 PM

Yes, create the best content for domains you have more ownership of.

That's it, it's no longer a secret. I've never understood those who sell their secrets - they're no longer secret!

UK_Writer wrote on February 12, 2015, 6:40 PM

LOL ... that wouldn't work either. They're just little secrets, nothing major. I wish I could discover some magical secret that made millions! That'd be cool.

Uhm! You could start with the Royals !

DWDavisRSL wrote on February 12, 2015, 8:25 PM

Say it ain't so. Someone plagiarized you on that other site? Why, that's unhea---Okay, I can't type it with a straight face. I'm sorry you were robbed and your ideas stolen. I certainly understand your reticence about sharing.

Secrets are secrets. They are no secrets anymore once revealed! :)

Yes, the world is full of people without their own ideas, who take the ideas of others and then present them as their own - and get to look super smart. So I thought "I'll teach them.... if I don't say anything bright, they can't copy it" :)

UK_Writer wrote on February 12, 2015, 9:27 PM

That's it. It's only a secret once, after that it's public knowledge.

I love the mystery here! And I know what you mean, you write something, people use your idea and, because of their larger following, they make more money out of it. Hug your hot secrets close, you've left us all smiling with intrigue emoticon

Sadly there are so many people in the world who tend to pocket others ' stuff to build up their reputations .

Thanks for the warning. I am a very secretive person and I don't want to share any secrets I have in the net, but my anger? I always let it loose on my secret tweeter account where I always shout through writing there. Lol! God bless.
