Many Posts Are Way Too Disappointing

I am beginning to wonder about the people who joined Persona Paper. I don't think they get the concept of what it means to use Persona as a blog or article writing.

Instead, I, mostly, come across posts that just BARELY make the minimum cut in order for the post to be live. Is this Facebook or Persona? It feels more like people think this is Facebook and barely get any words out. I thought I had joined a WRITING site.

Now, I don't mean that people can't write about whatever they want. That's not my argument. My argument is that any post that is barely ONE PARAGRAPH can't possibly have any substance whatsoever that contributes to the community.

I would really love to be able to comment on articles but for crying out loud people give me something real to contribute to. That's my rant for today and I am stating it being cranky because I haven't slept yet.

I, honestly, don't know what crosses people's minds when they start writing on here!

GIVE ME SOMETHING REAL TO READ! I meant that in the nicest way possible.

See you around....

I think we all bring varying degrees of writing experience here and all have our own reasons for joining. Being a writer means different things to different people. When I call myself a writer it's not because of the words that stumble onto an online page, but the words I write in the other part of m writing life.

I feel and share that pain. So many are not worth clicking onto - even the title shows they'll be a disappointment. Mind you, if I were so much better there'd be a rush to my posts and I've seen no rush :)

its quite possible that others might be fairly new at writing in general not just here in Persona Paper

Oh, I can't complain...I'm disappointed by what I read most of the time. I enjoy the relationships that I'm building on this site.

I think that there is a barrier in languages that causes some of the pain and problems of content here. Of course to be honest with you, the sites with the best content don't pay their writers. There is so much going on in the world, you think there would be a lot of originality, but nope.

I don't personally mind the short posts. But then again, I have the attention span of a gnat. But it has to be somewhat coherent lol.

I also notice that. It seems to me that these people are posting for the sake of posting. I don't like to sound rude either but I hope that there is a way the admin can do about this very short posts.

Well, my posts are mainly 1000 - 2000 characters and since I write fictional stories, I like posting here. I am not very active though. I don't mind reading articles which are short as they can also be worth reading.

That is absolutely true. The title doesn't grab my attention either which leave me asking; "Really?" I end up getting off of here with a huge disappointed look to my face.

CountryWine wrote on February 13, 2015, 9:18 AM

I allow or that but many just have no excuse for it.

CountryWine wrote on February 13, 2015, 9:20 AM

I know exactly what I am seeking but there is just no way to find it here or any other site that allows for my own as well. Language barriers isn't really the point though. I am referring to these little blips of like five or six sentences that barely make the minimum characters!

CountryWine wrote on February 13, 2015, 9:23 AM

My attention span comes and goes but there are plenty of times when I know I can put up with a full length article and yet they are nowhere to be found on here. I don't know. Maybe I am just barking up the wrong writing tree.

CountryWine wrote on February 13, 2015, 9:25 AM

Exactly! Yes, I would appreciate it if admin would possibly increase the minimum length. Quality vs quantity go hand in hand and here it seems that quantity really matters more.

CountryWine wrote on February 13, 2015, 9:27 AM

Where have you been? LOL Sounds like you are my kind of people I am looking for on here.

I think that makes language barriers the point exactly. Think about it, if the author's second language is english then it may very well be that they don't have enough practice. I don't know though.

That's only a side point but I get what you mean.

scheng1 wrote on February 28, 2015, 2:28 AM

This shows that people, including me, just do the bare minimum.

CountryWine - It all depends on who you follow. I am finding people who do write something of substance that encourages me to leave comments. But you are right, the minimum character count does encourage people, who have nothing of value to say, to leave nonsense posts. Unfortunately, that can lead to the demise of PersonaPaper if it is allowed to get out of control.

Glenn wrote on February 28, 2015, 12:05 PM

scheng1 - You don't give yourself enough credit. As you know from my comments I've left, I've been reading your posts. I can say without dought that you write meaningful and interesting posts that attact engagement from your readers. Short is okay.

CountryWine wrote on March 1, 2015, 5:19 PM

Which is exactly my point and don't want to see happen.

Kasman wrote on March 6, 2015, 7:02 PM

I feel the same way you do. A bare minimum post suggests to me that the 'author' doesn't actually value their readers - or their work. Too many people still use Bubble Ooze as the standard for a blogging site even though that site had no standards!

CountryWine wrote on March 7, 2015, 8:55 PM

That's exactly it.
