First Ad Spot Bought for My Newspaper!

Y'all I got my first paid ad for my fake newspaper, The County News, today. It couldn't have come at a better time either. Today was the tenth edition of the paper. I always hoped someone would actually want to place a real ad one of these days, but didn't think it would happen this soon. And y'all aren't gonna believe this, but I have an ad for next week as well! How cool is that?

Y'all can see the paper here if you'd like: The County News

I am having a lot of fun with the paper and I'm so glad people actually enjoy it. I have 947 page views on there as of the writing of this article. That's over nine weeks and ten editions. Not outrageous numbers, but pretty good for me.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the news with y'all. Have a nice day.

I think that is the best darn newspaper I've ever read. I absolutely love it.

That's a great local newspaper. Ellis sure has a lot to write about!

AngelSharum wrote on February 9, 2015, 5:17 PM

LOL thanks. It is definitely not as depressing as the real news.

AngelSharum wrote on February 9, 2015, 5:17 PM

Yeah, his little town is full of news. :)

I really like your paper, much better than the one that comes here

I skimmed over it and thought that was such a cool idea! I love the laid back theme, it makes me think of a comic strip cum journal entry. Congrats on your first two ads!

I've been reading Sherwood Anderson's "Hello Towns." Your "County Paper" sort of reminded me of that...

AngelSharum wrote on February 9, 2015, 8:01 PM

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I am really enjoying doing the paper so far.

AngelSharum wrote on February 9, 2015, 8:02 PM

I've never heard of Sherwood Anderson. I will look it up.

Fake newspaper? How;s that? So how much did they pay for you :P

BarbRad wrote on February 10, 2015, 12:51 AM

It's a fun paper. Do you call it a fake newspaper because it's fake news?

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on February 10, 2015, 12:55 AM

That's great news! I've enjoyed reading The County News. The neat thing is, compared to some real small town newspapers I've read, it doesn't sound all that made up!

celticeagle wrote on February 10, 2015, 3:11 AM

That's sure cool.

agvulpes wrote on February 10, 2015, 6:34 AM

Very cool idea :) More like a Virtual Newspaper than a Fake one :) I reckon you are on a winner :)

AngelSharum wrote on February 10, 2015, 11:52 AM

Yep, I make up the news myself. The rate is on the paper.

AngelSharum wrote on February 10, 2015, 11:53 AM

Yeah, cause I make up the new. I do try to make it look like a real newspaper.

AngelSharum wrote on February 10, 2015, 11:53 AM

LOL this is true. I do draw some on experience. :)

AngelSharum wrote on February 10, 2015, 11:54 AM

Yeah it is a virtual one, but all the news is made up.

PriscillaKing wrote on February 10, 2015, 1:50 PM

Let's just say it's easy to see why libraries don't stock "Hello Towns" any more. Very, very p.i. about African-Americans. But Marion, Virginia, is close enough to home that it's still interesting to read their news and comedy stories from the 1920s.

a fake newspaper sounds a great idea and sounds oddly like a description of half the British newspapers claiming to be real ones

AngelSharum wrote on February 10, 2015, 9:33 PM

Ah, I got ya. I hope my paper doesn't sound too much like it then. ;)

AngelSharum wrote on February 10, 2015, 9:34 PM

LOL I am having fun with my fake one. I don't know that I'd want to write for any real ones though.

LadyTrouble wrote on February 11, 2015, 7:08 PM

Here is to your success! I think it could really become popular if you can get the right audience to visit.

AngelSharum wrote on February 13, 2015, 11:25 AM

That would be great. I'll just keep posting I reckon and see what happens.
