2015 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and Australia

Cricket is not a sport I usually watch and I have only a limited understanding of the rules. However, as the Cricket World Cup 2015 starts here in New Zealand and Australia at the end of this week, I imagine I'll be seeing a lot of it on our TV screen for a while. The World Cup starts on 14 February and continues until 29 March.

The event is being jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia, with 23 games being held here and 26 games in Australia. The final will be held in Melbourne, Australia. The first game, on Saturday, will be between Sri Lanka and New Zealand and takes place at Hagley Park in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I've decided to take the opportunity of the next few weeks to learn a little more about the game of cricket and, in particular, become more familiar with our New Zealand team. Is your country on of the fourteen with teams playing in this years Cricket World Cup?

I only like to watch nail biting finishes as the one that was there in the last world cup when our Captain Dhoni played his last bat with a sixer and walked away with the Cup!!

I'm not fond of looking at other sports than basketball and boxing but I learned to appreciate rugby by viewing the Rugby World Cup in NZ on TV more than a year ago. Cricket is another sport which I do not understand as yet.

We don't see cricket games at all here. If we could, I might try to find out something about it.

I know nothing about the sport of Cricket. I've heard of it but I've never played it.

Everyone in my home, or should I say my country, is a fervent follower of cricket but I do not think Asian teams stand a chance on Australian and Kiwi grounds.

I will probably watch matches featuring Pakistan but my sons will probably watch all 46 matches and forget to sleep, study or take a bath emoticon  I am not saying "forget to eat" because many matches will be watched together with friends, and where there are friends, there is pizza, doughnuts, burgers, french fries and anything else they can think of.

valmnz My country would never make it to a Cricket World Cup, I doubt there is even a single cricter team in my country. LOL!
I know South Africa and Australia are very strong teams, but hope your National team has a great tournament.

We're known for having our ups and downs. We haven't been too great in recent years.

So, the food producers do well over this emoticon

Why do you think that?

nbaquero wrote on February 9, 2015, 3:18 PM

valmnz I guess you are better at Rugby, right? I mean the All Blacks are like the No. 1 team all of time.

You've got us sorted emoticon
