Pinterest Error Message: Oops! Sorry, we were unable to fetch the image.

I've had a Pinterest error message this morning - while trying to pin my last article onto the board. It had a lovely photo, one I'd taken myself - and yet when I tried to pin it, I got the error message of "Oops! Sorry, we were unable to fetch the image."

I tried to pin the image using the button on my browser - and I even tried to pin it from inside my Pinterest account by going to the board I wanted the image pinned to and copy/pasting the url in.

The image always appears, with the "Pin It" button - and then the image is displayed in the box where I choose the board to pin it to and type in my own description/words etc. But when I then press the button, I just get the error message.

Bit annoying really :) It's rare that there are problems with Pinterest.

I'll try again later.

I hardly go there these days but what is the benefit of pinterest? Can anything be sold there?

Kasman wrote on February 8, 2015, 6:13 AM

UK_Writer - it's still doing it! I have just tried to pin this post to my Persona Paper Pinterest board and I got the same error message. Presumably the site is undergoing maintenance.

Yes, I came across that error message several hours ago too.

bestwriter - selling things isn't Pinterest's purpose but you can pin images from your own site to a board (it gives a link back to the source) and possibly attract some paying customers that way.

bestwriter wrote on February 8, 2015, 6:22 AM

Have you had any tangible benefit by being there?

Kasman wrote on February 8, 2015, 6:28 AM

Not as such but then I don't sell anything online. It may be that I have attracted outsiders to my Persona Paper board and thus brought extra visitors to our site but there is no way to tell.

If one can effectively attract surfers who search Google that might get us more views. imho

UK_Writer wrote on February 8, 2015, 8:38 AM

Ah, not just me then! That's always nice to know. It's not just me - although it could be my post or my image - or maybe the whole of PP's been blocked, that'd take some testing to see... not sure I CBA :)

UK_Writer wrote on February 8, 2015, 8:38 AM

Ah, some hours then. Hmmm..... I'll try pinning something from another site and then come back here to try to pin this post again. See if it's site wide or PP, or me.

I agree with Kasman on this one, as you say you may effectively attract surfers on Google but that does not negate the people that find our work on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook or whatever forum we share it to. I know that I have drawn reader that way from them tracking me down on facebook despite me using a different name on there.

My experience has been slightly different. I hardly share my posts but try to target the Net audience. I have had very good views when my posts were on subjects that attracted the Net audience. One of my recent posts drew around 50 views. What has been your experience?

This kind of unexpected error tends to crop p everywhere at times. I blame those gremlins.

mrsmerlin wrote on February 8, 2015, 11:15 AM

On here I haven't posted much to comment and have only been here a short time but on other blogs I have always shared and found that if you label it correctly when you share to an open forum, you can acquire quite a few extra readers/followers. My personal blog (which I had to close through health issues) regularly gained 30 or more viewers a day from this - that may not sound like much but it is in addition to the 30 from the previous day. It takes on a snowball effect

Have not experienced this error. Am new there so only have a few pins so far. Are you still having problems? If yes, you can try contacting them. From my experience, Pinterest has awesome member support. Good luck getting this sorted out.

I am concentrating here and find my strategy to attract Net surfers working sometimes.
You must be sharing your posts that you write here with your social networking sites.

I've gotten this a few days ago. I would go back a day or two later to repin something and it would work just fine.

UK_Writer wrote on February 9, 2015, 3:30 AM

I've pinned from another site OK, but I still can't pin from PersonaPaper. I just tried to pin this post and got the error message again

UK_Writer wrote on February 9, 2015, 3:30 AM

Yes, I just tried to pin this post and got the same error. It worked for me, yesterday, from other sites - just not this one. I won't bother contacting them, I never do that sort of thing.

UK_Writer wrote on February 9, 2015, 3:31 AM

I just tried to pin this post and it is still not pinning from this site for me.

Koalemos wrote on February 9, 2015, 4:22 AM

This makes me wonder if Pinterest has a reason to disallow Persona Paper.

MaeLou wrote on February 9, 2015, 9:05 AM

You can't sell there, but you can put images of your stuff from Etsy on there. I believe I have had a lot of business that way. I also have over 60 "re-pins" from one of my articles here as well. It can be useful. Millions of people use Pinterest.

MaeLou wrote on February 9, 2015, 9:06 AM

Is it pinning from other sites? I've had this instance with sites outside of this. If it is just this site, we can see if it is something on our end.

bestwriter wrote on February 9, 2015, 9:27 AM

That means those who have business will benefit. I got it.

UK_Writer wrote on February 9, 2015, 6:12 PM

Yes, I can pin all day long from other sites. Just not here.

MaeLou wrote on February 9, 2015, 8:02 PM

Okay, looking into it!

UK_Writer wrote on February 9, 2015, 8:16 PM

Cheers. Personally, if something doesn't work, I tend to just not bother again :) I figure enough people/somebody else will do something about it and if it's fixable then it'll be fixed... rather than me trying to bleat lamely at a big organisation who don't care I have a problem emoticon
