Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

...or so they say so that mean (if the old saying is true of course!!) that you should all be fonder of me and I of you all!! I have been absent from here for a couple of weeks due to commitments on Fiverr, I can earn loads more there than any writing site so that always comes top of my priority list (sorry!!) but I have shut my Fiverr gigs off for the weekend to spend a little time catching up on other online and offline things. My ironing pile is like the leaning tower of Pisa and needs to desperately be tackled this weekend and I have been spending some quality time with Alice making and baking as she is really interested in cookery at the moment.

We also have had our central heating installed woop woop!! 5 years without heating and finally we have a proper system that goes through the whole flat and we also have instant hot water as much as we want instead of one bath full a day!!

I hope everyone is doing ok let me know what you have all been up to and I will have a little mooch round your posts emoticon

Glad things are coming together for you. Welcome back

Oh I am so happy to read this post! The more I read from you the more we have in common! I'm saving for a central heating system too, as well as looking at what fiverr can do for me.

Glad to hear all is well and everything is go. My ironing pile is getting outsourced this week, as my workplace has a deal with a local ironing service for 15% off the cost of a job. It happens to be the same ironing service we have been using for a year already, so that just makes it even better.

That is cool I wish I had an ironing service (maybe I need to teach my daughter to iron!!)

Luckily our place is still owned by the council so they paid for the central heating system but we are hoping to buy it when we can (though I would like to get a new kitchen from the council as well before that happens)

What gig do you offer on Fiverr? I provide a transcription service

I write blog posts and articles on demand. I also review Android apps and occasionally send a teabag selection to people. My ironing service costs about the same per hour as I earn for 2 fiverr pieces and I can write quicker than I iron. They get all my t-shirts and tops and use a steam press to do them. My husband is supposed to be taking care of ironing our cotton teatowels but he's studiously ignored the laundry basket all day. And the rubbish pile in the kitchen. And the washing up until I shouted at him. He does move, occasionally, but he's not really with it this weekend!

On the other hand, my eBay items are flying off the shelves at great speed and I can't keep with the listings! More money for the ironing service then.

We own our own house, and it was the only one we could afford when we bought it 10 years ago. Since then my priorities have changed somewhat and I'm now trying to madly declutter because I refuse to have all this stuff around me forever more. Fortunately, most of it is eBayable.

That is good then, I use to sell on eBay a lot but recently been sticking to our local Freebay site on Facebook (no costs involved!)
Are you signed up with People Per Hour? I have joined that site as well as Fiverr but not really looked into it much yet.

Laughing at "ironing like the leaning tower of Pisa"! I understand how better-paying gigs can take priority--we all have to put food on the table! It's nice to come in here and visit though, too. Maybe soon this will be one of those better-paying gigs, and we can just hang out here all the time!

It is nice to have a break from transcribing and see what everyone has been up to and things flow a little slower than other sites so it is easy to catch up with everyone and everything emoticon

I was on PPH, but I think I ought to have specialised a bit more, as I was getting everything from sweat shop rates to decent gigs. With elance, I'm a LOT more picky.

I have also worked for fiverr. If I find a place that pays more than that. I will let you know.

Nice that you have a cozy earning niche on Fiverr. Of course you should prioritize your time towards that.

lucyluuk wrote on February 7, 2015, 4:23 PM

I went through a really quiet patch in the first 3 weeks of January but since then it has been all go go go! I cannot afford to turn work down so I have been working really hard ( I am trying to pay of my car loan this year)

So many things to read and write about and the time just flys away..

lucyluuk wrote on February 7, 2015, 5:35 PM

Have you tried People Per Hour? I have signed up there but not done anything there yet. What do you do on Fiverr?

Soonerdad3 wrote on February 7, 2015, 11:35 PM

I know what you mean about Fiverr orders taking up a lot of time. I give my Fiverr orders a higher priority just like you do.,

UK_Writer wrote on February 8, 2015, 5:57 AM

I've not used fiverr. I noticed your absence from here - and you're on my daily list to check through and see if I missed something... and here you are :)

Aw that is super sweet, I am going to try and be here more often for everyone emoticon
