Introducing Allie The Cat

Allie is the name of my 6 year old cat. She has been with our family since she was 5 weeks old. We got her when she was that little because her mama disappeared when she was 4 weeks old and the lady that was taking care of them just couldn't continue taking care of the kittens. It was hard work at first since Allie hadn't been taught all the things mama cats teach their young. When we would feed her she would end up with more food on her than in her belly, which necessitated a bath with every meal. She was also tiny, when I took her to the vet she didn't even weigh a pound. She did finally grow, though she had a small setback that required an unexpected trip to the vet, but with care she recovered.

She is now a good size cat, weighing in at over 10 pounds, but doing well. She loves us humans and has a special bond with the youngest. The youngest was only about 4 months old when Allie came into our lives, so they have grown up together. Allie loves that girl no matter what she does, though she has learned she needs to be nice to Allie. The only time Allie really has a temper is with the dog and the vet. I was told tortie's (which Allie is) are known for their tempers but we hadn't seen it until we took her to the vet. She hissed and growled the whole time. She still does not like the vet but no longer hisses at them. She still hates the dog though. We've had the dog for about two and a half years and Allie still does not like her. I don't think that relationship will ever change.

Allie the Cat looks so sweet. I love the bit about her needing a bath after every meal. I have never yet got Freya, the Catblog Cat to take a bath. I do not think any self respecting cat behaves well at the vet!

Oh yeah, torties are a breed of their own and will let you know it LOL! I have had torties on and off over the years and they are certainly have personality to spare. Allie the Cat is such a cutie emoticon

Hello to Allie from another AliCat. I'm sorry she doesn't like your dog! My sister's cats tolerate her dogs fairly well. She used to have a tortie Persian who got along well with the two other cats (one was her daughter), but she didn't have nay dogs at the time.

Allie is such a beautiful cat. We had a tortoiseshell once, they are such lovely cats.

Oh how funny, I have a 4 year old pup named Ally and her best friend is my kitty Boobear.

Thankfully she outgrew the need for a bath after every meal fairly quickly, being able to switch to dry food helped that a lot. I'm glad she doesn't need a bath very often as she is difficult to bathe.

Allie is my first tortie so I didn't know about her attitude until the vet. She was so loving and cuddly with us we were quite surprised when the vet told us about the typical behavior of them. She saves all her personality for the dog and the vet.

I think if we had gotten Morgan when Allie was a kitten it might be different than it is, but we didn't get Morgan until Allie was about 4 and very set in her ways.

Thank you. She is my first tortoiseshell cat and I didn't even know that's what her coloring was until the vet told me.

My dog loves cats and keeps trying to get Allie to play with her, but has learned not to get too close to her. Unfortunately Allie will probably never like Morgan.

Seems like Allie won't be that cat to give dogs a chance. LOL! Anyway, glad you took care of Allie and I'm sure she returns the affection that you give her.

She is a very loving cat and enjoys her attention. She rewards us with purring when we give her attention. She refuses to give the dog a chance and we have had to accept that she will never get along with the dog.

Animals can be really funny sometimes and they have unique personalities. It seems your dog and your cat have clashing personalities. Maybe there is some jealousy at play there.
