A short story about something that happened to me offshore.
There was a time when my crew and I had just settled down after a long shift. We ate, showered and got into our bunks. Being the oldest, I fell asleep immediately and the rest of the crew was watching television. Just as I was comfortably asleep, the supervisor entered our room and told us that it is time to go back to work. We worked long into the night, making it a 20 hour day rather than a 12.
Exhausted, I crawled back to my cabin for some much needed rest. Immediately after we completed our work the boat began travelling back to the harbor. A bad storm was raging in the Gulf Of Mexico. My crewmates were not feeling good because the ship was being tossed about in the waves.
My co workers were very amused that I was snoring loudly despite the ship tossing and turning. In fact, the ship was tossing so wildly that I was being rolled over in my bunk and everyone was laughing loudly because I was snoring as I was being rolled around.
I found very little humor in this information the next morning when I arrived to work.
