Its bitter Tuesday here in the house this evening but bitter not in the sense that their is something unusual, not so good happened or happening but it just happened that something bitter is what I cooked for dinner.
Bitter Tuesday since I cooked bitter gourd for dinner cause it was what dad bought. Three pieces medium size bitter gourd, garlic, onion and some ground pork. Basically I sliced the bitter gourd but have to took out the seeds in the middle then slice it into thin shreds, next was the onion then clove of garlic. I soaked the bitter bitter gourd into water with salt that could help to lessen the bitterness of it. Sauté minced onions then added the garlic, ground pork was the last and let it sauté for a while till the pork will be tender. Add the sliced bitter gourd and added some water that will help to simmer the bitter gourd and cook it as well.
So easy to prepare and to cook as well which I must say I already mastered since they really like it every time I am cooking it for lunch or dinner. Of course dad and mom enjoy it but the kiddos were not, my niece and nephew that's why they do have different dinner today lol.
I hated it when I was a kid too but now it's one of my favorites because it's easy to cook and is good for the health. I love it more if sautéed with a lot to tomatoes. ;)
Is "bitter gourd" the same thing that I know as "bitter melon"?
I am an American but have eaten a dish called "pinakbet" several times, when I was in the Navy from my Filipino friends. ( I'm not sure where you live, as I have seen your name and this is the first thing I've read from you.)
