Doing Strange Things With Dead Animals

In the small town of Torrington, Alberta, there is a dead gopher museum. Not everyone appreciates this museum as it is a little bit odd. They have several small display cases featuring taxidermied (dead and stuffed) gophers, most of whom were shot on local farms but some " special colored " ones were donated from further away.

In the exhibits the gophers are put in poses to represent regular activities in the area (past and present), including a farmer's market, fashion show, and hunting.

The museum is open only in the summer and takes about 20 minutes to visit. There is really not much else in Torrington for tourists, but the Dead Gopher Museum is very unique so worth a stop if you are ever in thee area.

Those look like pretty big gophers in the photos. I guess that's just because of the photo props.

I don't think I'd like that at all. I saw something on TV the other night about people stuffing their pets and keeping them. I don't think I'd like that either.
