Squidwhisperer, This Is For You

I admit, you've got a point. We're all getting a bit weary and writing things that maybe don't move us or our readers. It's true, sometimes I just want to check in with a few friends because I enjoy their company and yet I have few things important enough to share. Just another chatterbox, I guess.

But some of the things I have to deal with on a day to day basis seem surreal to me and are things I want to avoid thinking about, never mind writing about.

Stinkbugs, for example. They come in in droves because we heat with wood. They are about an inch and a half long and they are harmless, but I can't stand that they persist in flying around and then landing on my sleeve, acting as if they are a cat trying to cuddle up. You mentioned about writing about pets as getting old? Well, what about stinkbugs? Are they a common pet in your parts? This is a pet I am not proud to write about. I spend way too much time carrying them outdoors. I don't even want to write about how many I have squished either by accident or in frustration.

I will try to write something important once in a while, too. But not always. No promises, buddy.

For anyone who hasn't yet read your posts, Squidwhisperer , I recommend them as a laugh. I've sure enjoyed reading them this morning.

Thank you, Sheilamarie78 , for writing about living with stinkbugs. To my awareness, they have not been anywhere I have lived, so I am glad of the opportunity to experience them vicariously.

I also like the writings of Squidwhisperer .

You know, I had squidwhisperer 's post on my mind as I wrote my latest one. Then I decided blow it, I wanted to write about me herbs. It may not be deep and meaningful, but i am proud of myself. But I agree, his posts are amongst the best written on here, so clever, so funny, but with a real message.

Just write and increase your following. When you do that, others will follow you.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not about importance. Or about people not writing exactly what they want to whomever they want - whether journal or diary or check-in-with-a-friend or grocery list [providing they're buying pickled walnuts or rotten shark...]. Or against pets. In fact, perhaps it's partially because I'm currently pet-less [after 35 years of cat/dog/cat/dog/cat...] that I over-reacted. Never dealt with stinkbugs. Not feeling the desire. I just happened to come here looking for something that - in that moment - I could not find. Life can kind of be like that I guess...

Stop it now, he's a rogue and maybe even a fraud. He is not Ilene Wright though. He is sincere and then abruptly not. And he has no business suggesting to anyone else what they should or should not write. So he retroactively hasn't...

Gee, I could have written about my visit from a stink bug the other day. Why didn't I think of that? I should have asked him to pose for a picture.

speaking about stink bugs I'm glad I didn't get any last year. hoping I don't get any this year either.

If everyone is going to get all self-conscious and try to be important and worthy, I am going to have to go elsewhere. I have no intention of living up to a standard, it's not me. I try to keep expectations low, so no one will be disappointed in me.

LilyDay wrote on January 28, 2015, 3:30 PM

Did Guiness rush to your assistance with the bug? Or did he leave it to you, since you did that "terrible, horrible" thing the other day?

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on January 28, 2015, 6:09 PM

Guiness was absolutely no help whatsoever.

I love reading your writing, Anja. You often have me chuckling. Stay. Please don't go.

There are three cats here who say that he did just the right thing.

He truly is something isn't he! He got me thinking I should change what I post unique!

Squidwhisperer wrote on January 31, 2015, 6:40 PM

Yikes. Just to be clear, the post I wrote that prompted the ref above was mostly in response to one I read where someone complained for a paragraph of having nothing to write. In counter to your comment of having "to go elsewhere," that was exactly my thought. Though I didn't say so. I certainly read enough of those in Fizzville. But mostly I was also tryna kinda have some fun.

I have heard of stink bugs but I am not sure I have ever seen one and I guess that is a good thing lol

I was just kidding. It was more a statement of my intention to always be myself, or at least one of my well-established personalities. This kind of community only works if everyone is himself. Am I supposed to say "or herself?" Well, that's me, a dinosaur who doesn't even get upset if people use "he" as universally meaning "anybody at all without regard to race, creed or favorite movie".

Good to hear. I'm sure you know by now that I'm more marginal provocateur than standard-bearer for anything... except maybe marginal provocation.

Everyone has a different agenda for writing online. I admit my interests don't always flow with some of what I read but connecting with people is always nice.

There always seem to be some stinkbugs around, but I've never had issues with overly affectionate ones. I know it's not funny for you, but I have to admit, it made me giggle.

paigea wrote on June 14, 2015, 10:04 PM

I am here to read what the chatterboxes all have to say. A little slice of life somewhere else in the world entertains me. I haven\t had stinkbugs in the house even when we heated with wood, so that is interesting.
