Literary classics

I love how Louie is always trying to broaden his perspective by reading classic literature.

However, he only got about halfway through Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" before he looked at me in disgust and complained that the title of the book was rather misleading.

I tried explaining to him that the title was a symbolic reference to how some men are braver than others, but he just glared at me, slammed the book shut, and stalked off to watch the squirrels through the front window.

I think his favorite book so far was Heinlein's science fiction story "The Cat Who Walks Through Walls".

I couldn't even get him to open "The Dogs of War"... emoticon

Your cat is amazing! Have you ever thought I'd introducing him to wind in the willows. I am sure he would enjoy the rptales of ratty and all of the others

Haha! That's one intelligent moggy you have there my friend. Mum has been telling me that her cats have been looking at my Dad as if they know something is wrong with him (he even has to use a stick now to get about the house) so the fact they can 'read' books as well as they can read people..well, what can I say? emoticon

Louie might be interested in "The Cat Who......" books. Good mystery books. I need to start reading those again.

I bet Louie wanted to eat the mice rather than read Of mice and men lol!

Some cats have a tolerance for dogs and some don't.

Hahaha! I love your cat already. He is surely more well read than me!

I think he'd like the Mrs. Murphy Mysteries by Rita Mae Brown. It features a brave and clever cat who solves mysteries and keeps (or tries to) her human out of trouble.

I've heard good things about those, but I've never actually gotten around to starting the series.

I take it he is fond of Dr Seuss's "Cat In the Hat" books? And his favourite nursery rhymes are "Hickory Dickory Dock", "Three Blind Mice" and "One two three four five, once I caught a fish alive"? Is he fond of horror? Maybe "Ding Dong Bell, Pussy's in the Well", would fall into that category?
