Suggested Changes To Persona Page Article Categories.

While much better than category options on many blogging sites, a few changes and additions could be useful to categories on Persona Pages. For example; Animals could use a sub-category for pets.

Anime should cover general animation, including short cartoons, and Manga.

Entertainment is partly covered by Movies / TV and, Music & Books.

Food should cover drink too (not just alcohol).

Movies and TV could be separated as categories.

Reviews again overlaps with books, films, music, etc.

The oddest category is Sci-Fi and Paranormal as new age beliefs really belong with religion and not with speculative fiction reviews. These two categories ought not to be lumped together.

Missing categories; education, history, philosophy, poetry, and no doubt more too.

I also think that Sci-Fi and Paranormal should be two separate categories. I would like to have a category called Crime.

As a reader these suggestions might help, but as a writer I often find the categories already a bit confining. Whenever I can't decide if it's a Paranomormal Pet story or just Funny Science with some Religious Food thrown in, I'm forced to opt for Random.

I think that when we add the blogger section, people will feel better about the Categories, as you'll be able to create your own.

There is plenty of scope to improve the category listing, which is no doubt due to the site owners simply selecting an approximate variety in order to start with.

I don't disagree that there could be some tweaking to the category titles, but so far I've not had difficulty choosing which to use.

I agree with all the changes that could be made to the subject categories. They could also add a hobbies or crafts section to the board too. I hate being forced to choose random because there is no other category that they fit in

Great suggestions on refining the categories. Also needed are sub categories like fiction, non-fiction, human interest, bargains and others that you've mentioned.

These are very good suggestions and I hope they are followed strictly

I tend to write a good deal about education. I just read where the admins said that in blogger, we will be able to choose categories.

I would like a Creative Writing category, if not Poetry and Fiction categories. Right now, where do we put them? Random? Art? I think Art should be for visual art, but Random is such a catch-all.

Good suggestions. I agree with adding more categories too and having sub-categories.

I agree that paranormal doesn't belong with sci-fi. And actually, sci-fi really ought to fall under fiction - if we were to develop a fiction category with multiple sub-categories. Otherwise, it would be better used as a tag for TV or film.

I'm not at all fussed over things like TV and film being together. Unless we get too many posts in that category, it's not worth separating them. And I do see how some things that might not fall under the other categories like music or books, could still fall under entertainment. I don't think it's worth analyzing things like this too much. As long as people can find a category for their writing, it's not a big deal how the categories are set up. I do agree with you that some of the more intellectual categories are missing. I don't tend to read poetry online, but I'd love to see the other three missing categories you mentioned.
