Fish and Chips at the Beach
It was such a lovely Sunday evening we decided to drive to a nearby beach, little more than twenty minutes away, to have fish and chips for an early dinner. We have a favourite fish and chip shop down there, but haven't been for ages. There was a bit of a breeze when we arrived, so rather than eat at the ocean beach we returned to the estuary, near the river mouth, where it's much more sheltered.
The fish and chips were wonderful. The fish was exceptionally fresh, far better than we buy from our own shops back here in the city. Because of the breeze we sat in the car eating our delicious meal straight from the paper it was wrapped in, with a dollop of tomato sauce we'd had enough sense to bring from home.
There were several hopeful fisherman on the wharf, maybe they'll be having fresh fish for dinner tonight too. The photo above shows one of the fishing rods of the couple in the car next to us. Even if they don't catch a fish, I'm sure they are having a wonderful time, just being out in the fresh air, enjoying the peace and quiet.
