A Glimpse at St Clair Beach, Dunedin, New Zealand

New Zealand is a wonderful country to live in and always popular with international tourists. I love sharing some of my favourite places with online readers who can't enjoy the pleasure of visiting some of our tourist destinations. The view I've chosen today is of a beautiful beach, way down on the west coast of the South island, in the city of Dunedin.

St Clair Beach is popular with locals in the summer, but I last visited it on a glorious autumn day a couple of years ago. One of the things St Clair is famous for is it's Hot Salt Water Pool, which you can see as the turquoise coloured building at the end of the beach above. The open air pool was opened in 1884, but not heated until the 1960s.

New Zealand is made up of three main islands and lots of smaller ones, so has an incredible mileage of beaches to discover and explore. St Clair in Dunedin is just one of many New Zealand attractions I hope to eventually introduce you to.

I have no idea how much I am going to need to make the trip, but you are certainly making it difficult for me to not want to be in your fair country!

I have not been to this beach. My memory of west coast in South Island is rain, rain, rain.

I have a friend who lives in the country out there in New Zealand. It's a beautiful place that I only get to see in pictures.

ah New Zealand, on of the beautiful countries that I am wishing to visit someday. I fell in love with her nature when I first saw Lord of the Rings. :)

Yes, lord of the Rings certainly show cased our scenery well! Not to mention our film making skills.

Do you know which part of New Zealand your friend lives in?

Oh dear, you obviously went at the wrong time of the year.

It's nice up there, we used to live not too far away.

Start saving before we both get too old emoticon

There is nothing wrong with the season. The tour company is at fault. It should focus on the east coast where it is sunny and bright, not bring us to west coast when they know that it is raining all the time.

It certainly seems like a lovely country. I wouldn't mind visiting at some point, but international travel (or even travel within this nation) is not currently within the budget.

I have a travel account and save small amounts every week. They eventually add up.
