Free Lance Writer...um, yeah

You just gotta love some people. Well, I guess actually you don't GOTTA, but...

I saw it at the B place a few times...and then I saw it again today here.

Someone has on their profile "I am a free lance writer blah blah blah" and then VOILA! you start looking at their articles and BOOM! plagiarism.

Yeah, okay, you changed one or two words...but that was ALL you did. You did not write that article. And taking something someone else wrote and changing a word or two does not make you a "free lance writer"...it makes you a common thief, cheat and liar.

And you are gonna do that for just a penny or two?

is one of those things that just REALLY bothers me. emoticon

And you DARE call yourself a "writer"?

PUH-LEASE...

Yep, definitely a lot of cheaters. It's a shame that some people don't bother to just do the work on their own. And they have the nerve to call themselves writers lol.

Well, I hope that at least the admins will deal with it swiftly and completely, not the way the admins at the way the admins at the B place did. Or didn't.

I agree plagiarism is theft no matter how you look at it and it should never be tolerated.

If the admins say on top of it, and the users report it when they see it, then the problem can be addressed before catastrophe strikes.

I guess he wasn't writing about medieval weaponry?

It is sad to see that plagiarism happen. But the worse thing is there is no action can be taken on them. The thing happen again and again.

It's mostly news articles that people spin out there. At least from my experience that I have seen. You want to re-report something you heard on the news? Sure that works but it should always be put in your own words with your thoughts on the matter. That's how I was taught and they teach this as early as junior high school; maybe sooner. I remember having to buy newspapers all the time when my daughter went to school. She had to do a current event once a week. So if it's being taught in school how to properly relay something you read, then there is no reason for people as adults to do that when they share on a website that pays. Plagiarizers are fortunate that they don't get sued.

I hope that Admin. is watchful and it is nipped.

It bothers me that the B site tolerated so many plagiarizers and article spinners.

Plagiarism is a big bug bear of mine. I was nearly thrown out of uni in my first year thanks to someone handing in plagiarised work. If it hadn't been for the tutor seeing my work and me handing it in well before the hand in date I would have been thrown off. He was that lame everything including the name on the front page and the page headers hadn't been changed. It only got through hand in because he had put the hand in sheet on top of the document rather than under the title page like I did.
