My New England Patriot's Connection

My Patriot's Connection

I have been a true blue New England Patriot fan, in fact I loved them when they were The Boston Patriots.

When I was in high school I played football at Saint Thomas Aquinas, Dover, NH. I was practicing against two upper classmen. My helmet crack and I was put in the hospital. Just an accident.

One of those upper classmen was Steve Corbett. He went on to go to Boston College, All American and was the first draft pick for the Boston Patriots in 1974!

He never became a star because of an injury during practice. I felt so sorry for him. He is good person and taught me weight training. (And he would have gotten me tickets if I asked.)

So that was my connection to the New England Patriots.

That's cool! I always like hearing stories like that. My Mom is a diehard Patriots fan too, has been since well before the Brady days. My Dad I don't think he really cared too much, when I started rooting for the Cowboys he could be counted on to root for the other team, in fact his favorite answer to "who do you want to win?" was "whoever is against the Cowboys." lol

There don't seem to be many of us around these days who can say we remember the Boston Patriots.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this. You shared the field and practiced with a professional football player. American football is virtually non-existent here in Manila. We get to watch games but no actual games are played. Flag football is common though. We do have a football team called the Philippine Punishers and they have football games against other football teams from other Asian countries.

You know I can hardly relate to sports because I grew up in ballet. Yet I can relate to this post. I saw a few incredibly talented people who could have become prima ballerinas - but they experienced injuries. They mostly went on to teach ballet, yet one became a medical doctor.
